Beyond Good & Evil 2 lets you create your own character Posted: 14 Jun 2017 07:21 PM PDT Ubisoft has unveiled loads of new details about Beyond Good & Evil 2 and it sounds like it's going to rival No Man's Sky as the most ambitious game of its era. Based on how close it comes to achieving its cosmic pitch, it will either be the greatest game ever or a massive disappointment. Either way, it will make Peter Molyneux's grandiose ambitions sound tame in comparison. Strap in! First thing's first: Beyond Good & Evil 2 will let you create your own character. You can choose to be male or female, series creator Michel Ancel confirmed in the Ubisoft Blog's report, and a behind closed doors tech demo saw the player character represented by the monkey man from the trailer, Knox. As we hoped, that jetpack isn't just for show. But what's really going to set Beyond Good & Evil 2 apart from its predecessor - and almost any game that's ever existed - is its comically lofty sense of scale. |
Popular GTA mod OpenIV receives cease and desist from Take-Two Posted: 14 Jun 2017 04:06 PM PDT Popular Grand Theft Auto modding software OpenIV has been taken offline after its developer received a cease and desist letter from publisher Take-Two Interactive. According to OpenIV's lead developer GooD-NTS on the GTA forums, Take-Two said OpenIV would "allow third parties to defeat security features of its software and modify that software in violation Take-Two's rights". GooD-NTS said that this accusation is unfounded and that the letter "is illiterate both technically and grammatically." |
Extinction looks like a solid Attack on Titan clone in its gameplay reveal Posted: 14 Jun 2017 03:06 PM PDT Killer Instinct Season 2 developer Iron Galaxy recently revealed its upcoming fantasy game Extinction, which bore more than a passing resemblance to Attack on Titan with its player character fighting giants in a village full of crumbling buildings. Now publisher Maximum Games has revealed actual gameplay and, well, it still looks a lot like Attack on Titan, but maybe better? Compared to Omega Force's actual Attack on Titan game from last year, Wings of Freedom, Extinction looks more robust in its combat system. Movement looks quite fluid with the ability to double-jump, wall-run, hover, grapple to surfaces, and dash through the air. Additionally, it has what looks to be a fairly in-depth combat system with light, heavy and aerial attacks. This makes fighting minions look more like Devil May Cry or God of War than Attack on Titan. When it comes to the big baddies, here colossal ogres called the Ravenii, you're tasked with slicing off the latches of their armour before you can effectively scale them. Take too long to kill your target after dismembering its limb and it will regenerate its missing body parts. Eventually you'll be able to climb to their necks, cut off their helmets, and finally behead the foul beasts. |
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is getting a zombies vs humans PvP mode Posted: 14 Jun 2017 01:29 PM PDT Popular survival shooter PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is getting a new competitive mode where some players are zombies trying to infect the last surviving humans. As revealed on a Twitch stream earlier, this upcoming mode will be separate from the game's core Battle Royale mode, in which several people compete in a last-man-standing survival challenge set across a large landscape where players must scavenge for supplies.

Michel Ancel doesn't think BG&E 2 is a Switch exclusive, and he would know Posted: 14 Jun 2017 09:51 AM PDT A common rumour that Beyond Good & Evil 2 would be a Switch exclusive was effectively quashed today, as series creator Michel Ancel took to Instagram to say the much anticipated prequel is "no Switch exclusive as far as I know." Given that he's the creative director on the game, it seems like he would know. The game's official website asked people to sign up for their platform of choice with the options being PS4, Xbox One and PC, but Ancel claimed that the site was "a little buggy" and that these choices may not represent the game's final platforms. |
Conan Exiles gets Xbox One Preview and expansion release date Posted: 14 Jun 2017 06:42 AM PDT Funcom's PC survival hit Conan Exiles will launch on the Xbox One Game Preview programme 16th August. 4K Xbox One X support is coming too. A free expansion for both Xbox One and PC will launch on the same day: 16th August. The expansion doesn't appear to have a name and will be detailed later this summer. There are screenshots and a video, though, which show a brand new frozen biome with mammoths and what appears to be the new character ability to climb. |
Valve bulk approves "many" of the lingering 3400 Steam Greenlight games Posted: 14 Jun 2017 05:34 AM PDT Yesterday Valve bulk-approved "many" of the 3400 games awaiting their fate on Steam Greenlight. Only those with "insufficient voter data or concerns about the game reported by voters" were not greenlit. The bulk-approval comes as Steam Direct replaces Steam Greenlight. It means, from now on, anyone can release a game on Steam providing they provide necessary paperwork, a $100 fee and pass Valve's internal game review process. |
Tyranny expansion Bastard's Wounds announced Posted: 14 Jun 2017 02:59 AM PDT Obsidian's evil role-playing game Tyranny will get a new expansion later this year called, naughtily, Bastard's Wounds. Bastard's Wounds opens a new part of the world centered around a settlement of refugees. How will you handle them? Sounds close to the bone! The expansion will teach us more about Verse, Barik and Lantry through new companion quests, and show us more of the race of the Beastmen. |
