Origins Of Malu: Help Stress Test Servers on Saturday Posted: 06 Feb 2015 02:14 PM PST Dying to check out Origins of Malu? Your chance is incoming as the team is ready to put servers online for a couple of hours on Saturday, February 7th. There are keys up for grabs and no NDA in place for the event. Developers are quick to point out that this is neither the MMO release build nor the final early access build that will roll out on Steam later this spring. According to the post on the Origins of Malu forum, early access should kick off very soon after this weekend's event. |
General: Could B2P Hurt Elder Scrolls Online? Posted: 05 Feb 2015 01:37 PM PST Welcome to Player Versus Player, the column that pits two MMORPG writers against each other in a battle wits, tears, and experience points. Twice a month, we take to our podiums to debate both sides of your most heated arguments. This week, Elder Scrolls Online rocked our newsfeeds with the bombshell that the game would be going buy-to-play before its summer console launch. Our topic: Is this a good thing for the game or the beginning of the end? |

General: NCSoft & Nexon Bicker Over Management Styles Posted: 06 Feb 2015 11:20 AM PST In 2012, Nexon purchased a block of stocks in NCSoft and became the largest shareholder. Pledging at the time not to interfere with NCSoft's management, Nexon has since rescinded that statement and has inserted itself, or tried to, in the day-to-day affairs of NCS. Calling Nexon's style vastly different from its own, NCSoft is keeping track of outstanding stock purchases and calling on Nexon to back off its stance as injurious to shareholders and stock prices as well as its ability to compete. |
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: Updates & Expansions to Come More Frequently Posted: 06 Feb 2015 11:10 AM PST The Final Fantasy XIV Reddit has been updated with some newly translated material from the Japanese site Famitsu that indicates Square Enix is on board with more frequent updates and yearly expansions. Updating FFXIV from v2.0 to v3.0 took roughly 18 months. According to the post, that should shorten dramatically in the future, down to about three months between updates. |
General: The Daily Quest - What's in a Name? Posted: 06 Feb 2015 10:31 AM PST Names... they're kind of a big deal. Especially in MMOs where they can often telegraph what kind of player you are. Know those guys who call themselves Goku this or Drizzt that? Probably not taking the game as seriously as Lord Reginald Wellingsworth the 3rd. But how much does your character's name matter to you? |
General: Envisioning a Vanguard Reboot Posted: 05 Feb 2015 12:54 PM PST Earlier this week, we posted our musings about Sony Online Entertainment's acquisition by Columbus Nova and transition to Daybreak Game Company. It's big news for fans of SOE...err...DGC's games, particularly when considering the potential for seeing their titles released on platforms other than PC and PS3/PS4. |
Warhammer 40.000: Eternal Crusade: Nathan Richardsson, From Iceland to the Warp Posted: 05 Feb 2015 12:46 PM PST As Terry wrote in his column yesterday, there's a new sheriff in town with Eternal Crusade. Filling the large and vibrantly energetic shoes of Miguel Caron is Nathan Richardsson. From CCP, Trion, and Ubisoft with a pedigree in MMO gaming like few others, the new Senior Producer of the Warhammer 40K MMO chatted with Rob Lashley about the future of Eternal Crusade and his gaming past. |
