Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you brilliantly propose a MOBA in which players slip into the shoes of classical composers and kick the crap out of each other (seriously, we'd play that).

The Daily Grind: Do you report other players?

    Posted: 24 May 2014 06:00 AM PDT

    SWTOR
I have a few social rules that I follow when I'm in any MMO. I am courteous to other players and helpful when I can be. I stay the heck out of political, religious, or World of Warcraft-themed "debates" in general chat. I resist correcting others' grammar or mocking them for a poorly chosen name. And if someone is being verbally abusive to anyone, I report them.

Maybe that makes me a narc, a thin-skinned snitch who's just waiting to tattle on anyone with a potty mouth. Actually, I don't care if you swear, but there are certain words and phrases meant to put others down that cross a line with me. Communities should be better than that, and that's why I have no problem hitting the report button now and then.

Do you report other players for things apart from gold selling site spam? If so, what's your threshold?

Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!

World of Warcraft bikes take shape in episode 6 of Azeroth Choppers

Who wants to take bets both bikes wind up in the game? Anyone?
Despite delays and distractions, Team Alliance and Team Horde are nearing the finish line with their World of Warcraft-themed bikes in the latest episode of Azeroth Choppers. Episode 6 doesn't show us the finished bikes just yet, but you can get a sense of what both vehicles will look like as the teams start putting the finishing touches on their bikes. The episode also looks behind the scenes at Blizzard, showing the process for converting these machines into in-game items.

Of course, the premise for the show has involved a contest from the start, not just for the teams but for the players. Voting for which bike design should appear in the game will start on May 29th, and fans are advised to start voting early -- the close of the polls is on June 2nd, just enough time to film the conclusion. You can watch the full episode just past the break.

Hot on the heels of the progress video released yesterday, Elite: Dangerous has today posted its 24th newsletter, this one with a slew of new screenshots from alpha 4, including a shot of the open cockpit of the Lakon Type 9 and the multi-seat bridge of the Anaconda.

The newsletter also reminds backers that premium beta begins on May 30th. Commander-level players should note that ships, credits, and other forms of progress will be wiped for this round of beta in order to "[level] the playing field as [the game] welcome[s] lots of new people."

Enjoy the new images! [With thanks to Cotic for the tip!]

Blizzard: Sexy Heroes of the Storm characters 'not sending a message'

Blizzard is about fun and fantasy, not about preaching diversity, the studio said.

Polygon pulled quotes from Heroes of the Storm Game Director Dustin Browder in which he defended the sexualization of the MOBA's female characters by claiming that, "We're not sending a message. Nobody should look to our game for that." He also claimed that he didn't "get the applications" of specifically hiring female developers for the title. Browder later apologized for those remarks.

But this month, Blizzard Executive Producer Rob Pardo acknowledged that the studio still struggles in its portrayal of women, explaining that "most of [Blizzard's] developers are guys who grew up reading comics books."

"We're not trying to bring in serious stuff, or socially relevant stuff, or actively trying to preach for diversity, or do things like that," Pardo said.

Disney shutters Star Wars Attack Squadrons

Disney has just announced that Star Wars Attack Squadrons will cease operations in the wake of its closed beta test. A message on the official site reads, "We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons. After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta."

The company first revealed the game in December 2013 as a Star Wars dogfighting space combat title set in pseudo-MMO-like 16-player environments.

Captain's Log: A look at Star Trek Online's Season 9 to date

Yes, there's a reference in the registry number, if you can read it.
It's strange to be stepping on to an unfamiliar bridge, isn't it? To be in charge when previously you were just an observer, especially when the crew hasn't necessarily changed at all. But you didn't come here to read my metatextual woolgathering; you came here because you want to read about Season 9 of Star Trek Online. Yes, it's been out for about a month now, but that's enough time to get a fairly good sense of it, isn't it?

Season 9 is an odd beast, in some ways; elements of it suffered for its long development, but it moves the game as a whole forward and introduces some interesting shifts all around. Its biggest weakness is in how much of it is based not around content so much as improvements of existing content and systems. But let's not focus on that; let's start at the huge upheaval that came with the featured episode and the overhauls it brought.

Siege of the Sentinels is happening now in Marvel Heroes! The towering baddies are spawning randomly throughout Gazillion's action RPG, and they'll be doing so through next week's patch.
