Naoki Yoshida confirmed that Microsoft approached the Final Fantasy XIV team about the possibility of creating an XBox One version but that the team felt it needed to have certain regulations waived before talks could progress further. At this time, the team is still waiting for Microsoft's response. |
Overwatch: The Hero Shooter to Beat Posted: 16 Jun 2016 10:31 PM PDT Overwatch feels like a sort of natural evolution of the Team Fortress formula. Blizzard's taken the basic idea of Team Fortress 2 and managed to modernize it with gameplay elements from the MOBA genre. It's a hard locked six vs. six affair and there are way more characters (21, to be exact), but they're ultimately pretty similar games with similar game modes. |

Marvel Heroes 2016: Dynamic Combat Level & You - A Player's Primer Posted: 16 Jun 2016 04:09 PM PDT The Marvel Heroes 2016 forum has a brand new post to give players a forward look at a system that will be coming to the game soon. Called Dynamic Combat Level, the system essentially evens the playing ground between players of different character levels. In essence, a level 40 fighting enemies with a level 15 friend will take equivalent damage as if he or she was also a level 15. That doesn't, of course, mitigate additional skills attained since level 15. |

Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor Martyr: It's Both Brilliant & a Little Boring Posted: 16 Jun 2016 09:58 AM PDT Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor - Martyr is a mouthful for a name, but I'm inclined to forgive it after spending an hour goring enemies on my sword. The Warhammer universe is a brutal place, so a violent action RPG actually feels right at home. Neocore Games aren't new to the genre either, they're the studio behind the King Arthur and Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing RPGs, and Inquisitor feels like it's being made with that combined wisdom. |
Camelot Unchained: A Citizen of the World Posted: 14 Jun 2016 07:20 PM PDT Much of the Camelot Unchained news last week was "there is going to be bigger news next week (Friday)". Unfortunately, I have to write this column before said bigger news lands so I ask, where does that leave my little chunk of internet real-estate? I suppose I could wax poetically about philosophical MMO concepts and sociology applied to MMORPGs then scaled up for use in real life but frankly looking at current events in society right now I find myself in a fairly disillusioned state. |
