| MMOHut Weekly Recap #90 June 17 – Tera Online, SD Gundam, Shaiya Phoenix, Spirit Tales, & More Posted: 19 Jun 2012 04:51 PM PDT A quick look and discussion for every major announcement and update during the week! This week we discussed updates from the following games: Tera, SD Gundam Capsule Fighter, Runes of Magic, Spirit Tales, Arctic Combat, Shaiya Pheonix, Conquer Online, Blacklight Retribution, Vindictus and Divina. The biggest news this week comes from enMasse studios who recently announced a 7 day trial for their P2P MMORPG Tera. The trial lets players progress to level 23 in the game using any of the race and class combinations. It’s surprising to see a new P2P MMORPG open up a trial system so quickly after launching (Tera launched May 1, 2012). A trial system in a new MMO usually means that the subscriber base is either low or dwindling and the developers are attempting to boost new interest by allowing new players a free trial. If this fails to bring in a large amount of new players we could see Tera convert to a F2P model within a year. You can check out our Tera trial first impression video here. Instead of the traditional target and auto-attack featured in most MMOs, TERA requires your own skill in positioning, aiming, and timing your attacks to take down your foes. With seven races and eight classes to choose from, and a variety of skills you can customize to suit your style, there will always be a variety of ways to conquer your foes! You choose between one of seven races, and one of eight classes. Each class is unique enough to be different from the rest. Combat in TERA is action based, meaning you have to aim your attacks to hit, and can dodge enemy attacks to reduce or eliminate the damage you take. The trial version of the game lasts for seven days, and gives you access to all the game features except for the political system. You can also only reach level 23, and can only create characters on a single server, though you may create up to eight of them.
