Heroes & Generals is getting fairly frequent updates these days, and even though the free-to-play MMO shooter is technically still in beta, developer Reto-Moto has a polished and playable game on its hands.

The latest Videolog, number 12 if you're keeping score, summarizes content additions from the last two "Patton" updates, including an extensive list of new tanks and infantry weapons. You can watch the full seven-minute clip after the cut!

Tamriel Infinium: Examining the Elder Scrolls Online first major update
I've often wondered if my frustration with game creators should be taken out on the game itself. This goes for any game, not just Elder Scrolls Online. Perhaps I love the game, but I believe the creators have had missteps that drag down production, or maybe they set customer expectations to a certain level then didn't quite deliver.

WAR40K dev diary details customization and player-driven story

    War40K
In this week's Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade production update, Game Designer Michael Chan describes a bit about what's going on behind the scenes with customization and player-driven story.

"Taking over parts of the Arkhona landmass, each campaign lasts approximately a week and we will augment the usual territory control gameplay with additional goals and mechanics," Chan writes. "Through your accomplishments, campaigns are also where you, your squad and strike force can distinguish yourselves from others - receive peer recognition and look more formidable on the battlefield. Participating in campaigns is the best way to engage in the narrative; and by working together in story campaigns, you'll be able to create history on Arkhona. Imagine being able to point to major battles that took place a long time ago and being able to take credit for it. These will drive the narrative of our game."

You can check out the entire dev diary at the game's official site.

Don't care about your gameplay, son, I'm tending crops.
It's the last week before WildStar's launch. Head start kicks off on Saturday. And Carbine Studios wants you to buy the game, if for no other reason than the simple fact that the developers would like the game to do well so they can continue to pay their rent. So if you've been on the fence, if you're not sure about the game, or you seriously haven't heard about it until just today, the last trailer is for you.

After many years of trailers, DevSpeaks, and various other promotional bits, this trailer just lays it all out on the trailer, showing off the game's many features in total and what you can expect from the game. Whether you need a refresher course or just want to see what the game will look like before the head start, um, starts, you can check out the full trailer past the break.

      World of Warships
Wargaming has released a five-minute look at the making of World of Warships. The firm's latest vehicle-based World War II battler includes aircraft carriers, battleships, cruisers, and destroyers. You won't see submarines, though, as developer Nicholas Moran says they "just don't fit with the gameplay."

In addition to ship types, today's video diary also talks research and historical authenticity. View it in full after the break.

The Daily Grind: Which MMO histories are worth preserving in book form?

One of the things that sets EVE Online apart from most other MMOs is its sense of time and place. New Eden is in fact a virtual world with its own constantly changing history. This makes for a potential experience that is totally unlike the disposable, repeatable experiences to be had in MMO themeparks.

EVE's not completely alone in that regard, though. And after reading yesterday's news about the forthcoming EVE-based history book, I started thinking about other sandbox games that would make for an entertaining read. What do you think, morning crew? Are there other MMO sandbox communities worth preserving in book form?

Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!
