Dungeon Fighter Online’s next major update, Act XII: New Blood, has been dated for August 24. New screenshots and details about the update have been released today.

Three new dungeons in Hill Vale, Antwer Canyon, and Southern Dale will be added with the update, along with new bosses and challenges for players above level 59. The update also adds Metamorphosis, an event where players can gain the ability to morph into monsters for 90 seconds after completing a series of quests and gathering Cryptid Elements. Transformable monsters will include Goblin Shooters, Mecha Tau, and Dorniar RTX-1.

The Guild system will also get an updated UI along with a guild level expansion. The new UI will let players apply to guilds directly in game, while Guild Masters and officers can choose to accept these applications. On the Hunt for New Blood

Three new dungeons open up their gates in Dungeon Fighter Online's August content update, new Monster Metamorphosis event teaser video now available

Three new dungeons are opening up their doors in Dungeon Fighter Online, the side-scrolling MMO brawler from Nexon, along with a monster metamorphosis event. The update, dubbed Act XII: New Blood, is due on August 24.

Dungeon Fighters will soon be able to traverse all new areas opening up in Hill Vale and Antwer Canyon. Southern Dale, which will be open to players of all skill levels, will introduce Bahol Callow, a new NPC that used to be the most respected commander of the de Ios Empire.  Along with Callow's guidance, dungeon fighters will battle through Southern Dale to face its three Boss Monsters, Bogut the Giant, Warlock Firan and York the Nightmare.

It is here in Southern Dale that players will be able to participate in the Metamorphosis event. By picking up Cryptid Elements and participating in specific quests, players can morph into one of several monsters for 90 seconds, including a Goblin Shooter, Dorniar RTX-1 and Mecha Tau.

Players level 59 and above will face new enemies in the North Ghent Gate and Ghent Battlefield dungeons. Players will need to band together in an effort to defeat Field Commander Babylon, the mechanically adept commander of the Kartel Army in Empyrean, and Machine-Arm Warjack, a feared and diabolical general – part man, part machine.

Additionally, the new update will introduce changes to DFO's Guild system with an updated UI, guild level expansion and other new functions. Players will soon be able to apply to the guild of their choice, and the Guild Master – along with his or her designees – can pick and choose which Dungeon Fighter to invite among their ranks. Furthermore, new guild functions such as the "Featured Guild Member" will grant more benefits for guild members when they party up. The max guild level will also be raised from 10 to 17, meaning more stat and EXP boosts will be generously awarded.  A Guild Safe will also be introduced, wherein a portion of the communally amassed gold will be deposited for future guild-related actions, such as leveling up. Finally, bonus EXP will be awarded to guilds who promote stellar attendance and dungeon participation.

Act XII: New Blood will feature the Friend Referral System, which awards unique prizes for those who recruit new friends into the world of Dungeon Fighter Online. Both the Dungeon Fighter Recruiter and their friends will benefit from the system with HP and MP multipliers, valuable items and more.

Tales of Pirates II Unveils New Expansion – The Dragon's Awakening

Deep beneath the rugged landscape lies a great evil that has slept for a thousand years – now that evil has awoken! IGG and the TOP II team have recently unveiled the latest expansion for Tales of Pirates II (http://top2.igg.com), appropriately named ‘The Dragon’s Awakening’, and the results are nothing short of stunning!

Arise, Great Wyrm of the Earth!
At the core of the new expansion is an epic instance that culminates in a battle with one of the most challenging bosses ever created for Tales of Pirates II. Known as the Black Dragon instance, players must first battle to the dragon's lair, no easy feat, before facing off with the terrifying beast itself. To start with, this dragon is not an average boss. It was designed to be the personification of a legend come to life. Imagine if the Loch Ness monster suddenly sprang out of the water and demanded the world bow to it, and you get an idea of what the brave buccaneers of Tales of Pirates II will be facing. It will be an enormous challenge, one that’s guaranteed to give even the most grizzled veteran a run for their money and rum!

All-new Game Features
Accompanying the Black Dragon into the world of Tales of Pirates II will be a whole host of special features and new content. Topping the list are the new Guild System, for finding like minded peg-legs to swap stories of derring-do, and the highly anticipated Sacred Wars. Others to watch for are the Monster Metamorphosis System, Game Aid System, Astral Soul System, and the Constellation gear quests.

Will you be the one to stand up to the dragon and save the pirating world or will you fall to the dragon’s flames? Find out in Tales of Pirates II! Visit http://www.igg.com to learn more about IGG's growing family of games.

Dragon Nest adds PvP

Posted: 19 Aug 2011 01:57 PM PDT

Today’s update for Dragon Nest adds player versus player arena combat for players above level 10.

Two game modes, Rounds and Respawn, kick off PvP in Dragon Nest. Rounds is a kill-all style game, where the winning team is the one which eliminates the entire opposing team. In Respawn, players respawn after death, and kills tally up points for each team, with the winner reaching the score mark first. Both modes support from 2 to 16 players (1v1 to 8v8).

Competing in PvP lets players gain Arena EXP, ranks, and medals, the latter of which can be exchanged for crafting materials and luster pouches. A ladder system will be added in a future update.

Dragon Nest is published by Nexon, which also publishes Vindictus and Combat Arms.

Nexon releases first PvP content update for Dragon Nest

Nexon America released a Dragon Nest content update today, adding award-winning player versus player combat to the popular action MMORPG. Two PvP game modes and five distinct maps are now available for players level 10 and higher.

Rounds and Respawn are the two game modes now available, and additional modes are planned for the future. In Rounds, a given team wins by eliminating all opposing players. In Respawn, opponents continue to respawn after they are vanquished, and a point is earned for every kill. The first team to reach the designated score wins. Teams can consist of one, two, three, four, six or eight players each for both game modes.

From the Arena lobby, players can form a team and choose a game type, or they can jump into the action immediately with the quick join option. Players can also join into battles that are already underway if there is space available.

As a reward for engaging in PvP, players can earn Arena EXP and achieve prestigious Arena ranks. Players also earn medals which can be exchanged from the Arena PvP vendor for valuable crafting materials and luster pouches. A PvP ladder system is also in the works for Dragon Nest, where players can track their PvP performance in detail and compare themselves to other players.

Dragon Nest follows the story of a band of adventurers as they battle the corrupt dragons and their followers in order to save Verathea, the once pure and beautiful world created by the goddess Althea.

Currently in open beta testing, Dragon Nest is available to play for free for residents of the United States, Canada and Oceania. Dragon Nest's open beta test will roll directly into launch, which means players will retain all of the characters, items and other enhancements they've made since the beginning of OBT.

Overview

Drakensang Online Overview

Drakensang Online is a free-to-play fantasy themed MMO version of the PC game called The Dark Eye: Drakensang. The original series created by Radon Labs is based on the German tabletop RPG hit with the same title. Today, it's still acknowledged as a favorite among D&D fans and gamers alike. In this revised edition players join the fight against the dark realms and its inhabitants invading the lands of Grimmagstone to Shorefolk. Similar to the classic Diablo 2 or Runes of Magic heroes have to explore various dungeons and kill off hordes of monsters. Embed powerful spells into weapons for additional strength in battles and challenge others in the PvP Arena to showcase your skills. There are two primary classes that players can choose from are Dragonknight and Spellweaver.

Classes:

Dragonknight – Armed with an assortment of heavy artillery these knights are ready for war. This class of fearless warriors has incredible strength. They drink the blood of magical dragons for an edge on the battlegrounds. Rage and sheer skill is their secret to victory.

Spellweaver – These mages tap into the elements and their own spiritual powers to destroy opponents. They have high levels of intellect which aids them in mastering some of the most difficult spells that have been passed down through the centuries. Mana and various enchantments make Spellweavers worthy rivals or allies.

Drakensang Online Full Review

By Ange Perdu

Drakensang Online is a 3D medieval browser-based fantasy themed MMORPG where players enter a world in utter turmoil. Heinous monsters from the dark realm have broken free and are wreaking havoc in neighboring territories. The prince has disappeared and rumors are flying that the mighty Dragon is going to return to destroy the human race. A war between beast and man has begun. Players step into the role of a heroic Dragonknight or Spellweaver on a mission to end the chaos. Complete quests, kill challenging creatures, explore dungeons, and participate in PvP arena battles. Become part of history, as the brave warrior that saved mankind from extinction.

Gremlin Ambush, the Gameplay

Players start out with several lengthy quests to tackle. NPCs stationed throughout little villages will often give heroes multiple tasks to accomplish within each mission. Quests usually involve acquiring items, relaying messages, and monster killing. Collect fish by slaying sluggish Bog Beasts in Darbmoor or find pleat-cutters through the elimination of pesky gremlins. The combat can be intense. Warriors are usually ambushed by 30-100 monsters while trekking through various terrains. The creatures in this world are aggressive. Similar to Diablo's hack-n-slash style users are constantly clicking to fight off droves of skeletons, slimy ogres, magic wielding vultures, and devilish gremlins. Although the combat is fast-paced killing the same creatures for different tasks can feel repetitive at times. There are also a large number of item retrieving tasks. Gather water from the well, picking grumble cabbage, or collecting the ale from the tavern in the Northwest require players to click and interact with certain objects instead of traditional monster slaying. It's a nice addition that's seldom seen in browser-based games. Much like the game War of Titans heroes have hundreds of quests. Completing them earns XP, coins, and rare equipment. Travelling is a chore during questing. There's no auto-walk. As players trek through various fields monsters quickly ambush. The background music speeds up to aid in the adrenaline rush of a full onslaught. Although it's quite fun the grinding is relentless.

fullscreen-capture-8122011-103204-pm

Dungeons & PvP Battles

Occasionally quests will require players to venture into dungeons or secret underground vaults. A dungeon's mode can be set to normal or difficult for more of a challenge before entering. They usually feature higher level beasts and boss creatures that must be defeated in order to advance. Some dungeons are possible solo but most of them require players to team up and raid as a party. There's an integrated chat feature that's easy to use and several base towns scattered through the world where players can socialize with others. Although Drakensang Online has a decent sized community the global chat is relatively quiet. The Facebook Connect option allows users to invite their friends which can be helpful when attempting to form a party. As players level up new empires are unlocked. The world is huge. Journey through quaint medieval towns, sweet pastures, foggy swamps, and intimidating forests. When heroes reach Kingshill they can enter the PvP arena to duel others. In this area players are able to take a break from the excessive grinding, flex their superiority, and showcase their mastered skills.

These battles are primarily for honor and glory. It's not a major part of the gameplay.

fullscreen-capture-8122011-93014-pm

Ice Nova to Teleporting

The skill progression in Drakensang Online could be better. There are only a few dozen skills to master and most of the moves are simply exaggerated forms of the previous one. They can be learned for free or for a small fee of in-game coins. The level requirements for mastering each skill is spaced out making the overall process seem slow. Perform the magic blast which sends a ball of energy towards opponents exploding upon impact or summon a meteor from the heavens to fall and crush enemies. Heroes are able to develop their abilities in producing ice blasts, explosions, lightening shots, and teleporting during combat. Although the animations are great players don't really get to play around with different combinations until their character has reached level 18 or higher. To execute various skills Spellweavers rely on mana and Dragonknights operate on rage. Both can be accumulated during monster kills or purchased in NPC shops.

fullscreen-capture-8122011-104550-pm

Weapons of a Spellweaver

The game features a balanced currency system that allows users to purchase virtually anything using coins earned through questing or looting. There's a small selection of items available in the NPC shops. Players can purchase health elixirs, mana potions, rings, amulets, scrolls, crystal balls, Simple Hero Breakfasts, Fruit of Insight, keys, chests, and inventory expansion bags. The weapons come in different variations of swords and staffs depending on a hero's class. Buy the Mystical Scepter, Enchanted Wand, Journeyman Staff, Bone Staff, Mystical Staff, Long Axe, Double-Handed Hammer, Bastard Sword, Pollaxe, Great Sword, Blade, Seax, and Alan's Heroic two-handed sword. In terms of character customization, players are limited. Gear consists of leather caps, linen gloves, pauldrons, apprentice boots, cloth shirts, and standard mystical armor. All of the heroes resemble each other making it difficult to find accessories that will distinguish your character from the rest.

fullscreen-capture-8132011-90746-pm

Final Verdict: Good

Overall, saving humankind from utter destruction is loads of fun in this fantasy themed MMORPG. Although it's still rough around the edges players get to experience the classic PC style of a hack-n-slash with a continued storyline from the previous installment of the Dark Eye series. This standalone game takes players into a medieval world where dragons and demons are running amuck. Unlike most RPGs where you have to look to find trouble, it finds you in Drakensang Online. Fight off droves of savage freaks, raid dungeons with friends, and battle others in the PvP arena to become a legend in your own right. Fans of the original series or gamers that enjoy titles like Diablo 2, Runes of Magic, and War of Titans will find this browser-based version thoroughly entertaining.
