[ChinaJoy 2011] ArcheAge reveals new posters

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 07:00 AM PDT

Over the months, XL Games' founder and CEO Jake Song had been proclaiming why his latest MMO title, ArcheAge, is considered a third generation online game, taking a step ahead of current favorites including World of Warcraft and Aion. Earlier, new posters for ArcheAge were revealed, and it seems XL Games is hell-bent on spreading the term "third generation". These posters should be for the China server since the publisher, Tencent Games' name can be seen. ArcheAge China will see a playable demo later this year at the annual Tencent Games Carnival.

[ChinaJoy 2011] Transformers Online screenshots

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 04:46 AM PDT

As mentioned in my previous posts on the game (link), Transformers Online, developed by NetDragon, will only be available for the Asia region. This is due to Jagex, the creator of Runescape, having the rights to develop a Transformers MMO for the English market (Transformers Universe).

With that said, Transformers Online will feature various different PvE and PvP modes using a third person shooter (TPS) view. Here are some pictures and screenshots from the Transformers Online booth! Note that all characters will be able to transform into vehicle mode. I am also very sure Bumblebee has taken over Optimus Prime in popularity rating in China judging by the giant statue above... More information can be found here (link).

[ChinaJoy 2011] Firefall - New class announced

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 04:18 AM PDT

Previously, it was mentioned that Red 5 Studios will be revealing the 4th class in Firefall at this year's ChinaJoy convention. The new class (or battleframe) will be the Engineer, while information at this time is still not available. Mark Kern, CEO of Red 5 Studios, emphasized on having a competitive league (e-Sports) for the game in the future, which is also the same plan for the company's biggest investor. The9 Interactive. More news to come when light is shed on the new Engineer class.

[ChinaJoy 2011] ArcheAge China being localized

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 08:37 PM PDT

As most of you would have known by now, ArcheAge China is being published by Tencent Games. Jake Song, the founder of XL Games, gave an interview on some details for the server. To summarize, with regards to the amount of freedom players will get, new players will still be restricted and will open up more "freedom choices" as they advance into the game. ArcheAge China is also being localized for the region, but it is not just simple translating. Content will be modified accordingly to local Chinese gamers' culture as well. As of now, there is still no new for an English server. More info here (link).

[ChinaJoy 2011] The Penguins War trailer

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 07:01 PM PDT

Perhaps one of the weirdest title yet to be revealed at ChinaJoy 2011, this is Snail Game's first online third person shooter (MMOTPS), The Penguins War. Perhaps a title to test the viability of MMOTPS in China, which is currently seeing a flood of MMOFPS, the game features not only humanoid penguins but various characters from history and fiction as well. You can see some screenshots at my previous post (link). I am wondering what the storyline will be. I do see Spiderman, Naruto and Chun-Li in the trailer though...

[ChinaJoy 2011] Asura - New class revealed

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 09:30 AM PDT

Well, I do know this game looks alot like Blizzard's Diablo, but I am still intrigued by the fact that Tencent Games developed the game loosely based on Chinese classic Journey to the West. The 4th class was revealed earlier today, called the Jade Fox. This little fox girl is actually plays as a ranged archer, pretty much like Diablo's Amazon class and comes armed with 3 different elemental arrows. The game is slated to start Closed Beta before the year ends. More information about the previous classes can be found here (link).

A piece of news regarding the instance found in Asura. Currently, the max number of players per party is 5, whereas instances catering to bigger parties is under development. There will also be instances catered to guilds as well. For example, if 9 men (from the same guild) enter a dungeon and in the middle, there are 3 routes for players to move on, they must separate into 3 smaller groups and complete each routes before meeting up again at the final point.
