Bloodstained Ritual of Night Trailer Side Scrolls Its Way to Hell & Back

Bloodstained Ritual of Night is a new game from Koji Igarashi. A new trailer was released today that shows off a new map called Church as well as game play action.

Bloodstained Ritual of Night

In the game, players take the role of Miriam who lives in 18th Century England. She is cursed in a way that is turning her skin to crystal. She finally falls into a coma only to wake up a decade later.

Today’s trailer is a step forward for the game. Church is a much more refined map than those shown in earlier demos. Miriam is shown using a number of skills including Spear Throw, Resist Holy and Optimizer. Additionally, she is shown using several weapons such as a Whip, Rapier and Katana. Lastly, viewers get a look at Bloodless, a never-before-seen boss.

For those who do not know, Igarashi is best known for his Castlevania series. This time, he brings his gothic touch to a side-scrolling game in a completely new universe but one that will undoubtedly be familiar for fans.

Warhorse Studios Announces Release Date for Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Warhorse Studios has announced the release date for Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The game will be out in the Americas and Europe as well as the PAL region on February 18, 2018.

Warhorse Studios & the game’s delay

Developers originally wanted to release the game in Fall 2016. It was delayed, however, to Fall 2017. Once again, it seems the game will come out a bit later. Devs have said that they need a bit more time with the game to make sure it is at its highest quality.

No matter what, it is nice to have the sting taken out of the announcement with a brand new trailer. In the video, the game’s story is shown.

ESL to Showcase Quake Champions in the E3 eSports Zone

During next week’s E3 convention in Los Angeles, ESL will be hosting Quake Champions in the eSports zone. The matches will feature some of the top players in the world. Attendees can check it out in person or via Twitch live stream.

ESL & Quake Champions

During the event, viewers will see a pair of PvP game modes including 2v2 Duel mode and 4v4 Sacrifice mode. Professional players will game against one another as well as in matches called “Pros vs Joes”. In the latter, E3 attendees can fight against professionals.

Duel mode introduces an additional layer of strategy to Quake Champions, incorporating multiple Champions with differing Abilities. To start, players will select three Champions in a snake-style draft before heading to the Arenas. In choosing their roster, players will have to consider which Champions are better suited to their unique playstyle and which are effective counters to their opponents' choices.

Lastly, professional teams will be on hand including Team Liquid.

Is Blizzard making a new FPS?

Is Blizzard making a new FPS?

It seems that Blizzard is hiring for an unannounced project, and early hints imply that it could be another first-person shooter. As pointed out by VG247, the veteran Irvine studio is currently posting several jobs for unannounced projects. But at least two seem to imply that the studio’s work is geared towards first-person action games. In other words – shooters.

But could it be something more? Blizzard’s own take on Battle Royale? Blizzard’s attempt to do a DayZ type game? Maybe a narrative exploration game? Chances are it’s another shooter, perhaps even one based on the Overwatch IP (who wouldn’t want a Tracer-starring game?). Rest assured, you’ll know when the rest of the world knows. Perhaps as early as BlizzCon 2017?

Pair of Pre-Order Exclusive Characters Added to Agents of Mayhem

Lazarus and Johnny Gat (Saint’s Row: Gat Out of Hell) are the two newest heroes announced for Volition’s upcoming Agents of Mayhem. A sprawling, single-player, open world action game where you swap between three heroes at will, Volition has been slowly but surely unveiling the game’s cast of characters over the past months.

Thing about Lazarus and Johnny Gat? They’re exclusive to those who pre-order Agents of Mayhem. Check out the trailer for Gat below, and make the decision to pre-order or not. You can do so here.  It’s out on August 15th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

About Lazarus:

True to her half-machine heritage, digital pre-order purchasers of Agents of Mayhem will be receiving a brand new Agent, Lazarus. This exclusive character, Lazarus, is a merging of woman and machine; the top rung of the evolutionary ladder. As an agent of MAYHEM, she encounters an endless stream of competitors ready to challenge her for that distinction. While she's evolved beyond her own humanity, she still has a great love and respect for humankind as a whole. MAYHEM allows her to watch over those quirky human beings whose flaws and peculiarities continue to fascinate her to this day.

Watch: 8 Things We Can't Wait To See at E3 2017

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 01:00 AM PDT

The first big E3 conference kicks off tonight at 10pm BST as EA unveils its plans for the coming year and beyond.

With so many games confirmed or rumoured to be making an appearance at this year's show, it's hard not to get caught up in all the pre-E3 excitement.

One of the questions I get asked a lot on my live streams is "what games are you most looking forward to at E3?" So I, along with the rest of the Eurogamer video team, decided to answer that in the video below.

Lost in Shibuya

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 12:00 AM PDT

I might never have got into the stranger's taxi if it weren't for video games. It was September and, earlier that evening, I'd met a journalist friend who lives in Japan for a catch-up drink. He took me to a themed Irish pub just off Shibuya crossing, the sort of establishment you'd never darken in Spain, but which, when transported to Tokyo, is transformed from blight to curio. The place didn't disappoint. Everything was slightly off: We drank pints of Guinness, each one laced with a shot of red wine. American sports blared on the overhead TVs. Most implausibly of all, one tidy queue trailed up to the bar: Dublin through a glass darkly. We caught up. Finally, we said goodnight. It was still early, the Autumn air muggy and electric. I muffled my ears with headphones and began to walk around Shibuya. And then I met Brad.

Most people, stepping onto the daunting expanse of the Shibuya crossing for the first time, call to mind that scene in Sofia Coppola's film Lost in Translation where Scarlett Johansson cuts a path through a Serengeti of salarymen, her mouth pulled slightly open as she takes in the panoramic expanse of the bordering advertising screens above her. You'll always see a tourist snapping a hurried selfie in that same spot, where all of the city's energy seems to be focused, the centre of everything. For video game players, however, Shibuya promises much more than a mere photo opp. Shibuya is no mere cinematic backdrop. Shibuya is where you come to find adventure.

My legs were weary. Jetlag had quickened the alcohol's effects and, apart from anything else, I needed a piss. I entered a claustrophobic bar and joined the queue for the bathroom. The young man in front of me was taking vigorous selfies, zigzagging his phone through the air, striking a fresh pose with each jerk. He noticed me, smiled, put an arm around my shoulder and snapped a shot. In bewilderment, I shook his hand and introduced myself. "Fuck off, you're English?" he said, before throwing his arms around me. What are you doing here, I asked. "I'm a model," he said, and I laughed, not because I thought it implausible (Brad was beautiful: a gauntly tidy face, a razor jawline, are-you-shitting-me-blue eyes) but because I didn't know how else to respond. Information came quickly now: Brad grew up in South London and now worked for an enviable clutch of celebrated fashion clients. He spent most of his time in Paris and Milan. And now, Tokyo. "Do you like dancing?" he asked. "You should come dancing. I have a taxi coming."

Hitman is ditching its episodic model in two weeks

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 11:07 AM PDT

With the future of Hitman up in the air as Square Enix is looking to sell the series and its developer IO Interactive, the episodic assassination game is changing its sales structure to no longer be episodic.

Given that the full season wrapped up last Halloween with the release of Chapter 6, IO figured it would make more sense to sell the now complete season as a full package by default.

In short, The Intro Pack (the game's tutorial missions and first full chapter) and Upgrade Pack (the cheapest way of acquiring everything after the Intro Pack) are going to be discontinued in two weeks.

First boss battle footage from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 06:58 AM PDT

This is more like it: Castlevania mastermind Koji Igarashi has shown boss battle footage in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night for the first time.

It's a battle with a boss called Bloodless, who calls down blood rain from the ceiling, which evidently damages you if you touch it. But you can use a nearby hovering umbrella to avoid it - if you can stay under it. Those umbrellas also divebomb you, though, and that's on top of Bloodless hitting out and shooting spouts of blood at you herself. It looks like a suitably tricky affair.

The footage also shows the Church map and shows Miriam's Spear Throw, Resist Holy and Optmizer skills, and her whip, rapier and katana weapons.

Watch: Johnny plays Prey (2006) for the first time

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 06:00 AM PDT

Bethesda's Prey launched last month, to decent critical acclaim and middling sales. In the run up to its release we published a few Prey videos on our YouTube channel, and there one theme in particular that kept cropping up in the comments - fans were not happy with how different this Prey was to the 2006 original.

As the comments continued to roll in I could understand their frustration, but only in an abstract way - this owing to the fact I had never actually played Prey. Fellow video team member Chris caught wind of this recently, however, and decided to put things right in this week's episode of Late to the Party.

To be honest, I think I get it now. This year's Prey really is nothing like the original Prey, though to be fair to Bethesda I think that's because nothing is like the original Prey. With alien bum doors, almost-great gameplay mechanics and an awe-inspiring disregard for cultural sensitivity, Prey is an amazing snapshot of what games could sometimes be in the mid-to-late 2000s. It's bold and brazen and weird enough to be genuinely fascinating. I can see why it's fixed so firmly in the minds of its fans, but goodness me was it ever weird to experience it for the first time in 2017. Anyway, you can see how I got on in the video below.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew and Ubisoft's ongoing mission to make a game about talking

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 06:00 AM PDT

Halfway through my first delightful hour with Star Trek: Bridge Crew, I started to realise I had played it before.

This was unlikely, of course. Bridge Crew is not a sequel. Instead, it's the kind of game idea that, written down, reminds you why Ubisoft remains the most whimsical and idiosyncratic of publishers. A game in which four friends get together - in virtual reality, right? - to engage in the enlightened forum that is the command center of a Federation starship. I was pretty sure, as I sat in the big chair, directing my tactical officer to engage with something or other, that I had probably not played anything like this before. And yet a persistent nagging at the back of my mind was telling me that I had.

Spaceteam? Spaceteam is close: a game about buttons and iPads and shouting at friends. Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator? Also close, although I'll admit I haven't experienced that one first-hand. Okay, so Bridge Crew has a clear lineage in other games that are about running spaceships, but there's something else here, a connection I hadn't made before but which now seemed obvious. I sensed that Ubisoft had done this before. Ubisoft had made another game that was just as weird and unlikely as this. Was it a quiet trend? For years, Ubisoft had quietly been trying to make a decent game about talking.

Emily is Away Too review

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 03:00 AM PDT

Emily is Away Too is a choose-your-own-adventure masquerading as a knock-off instant messenger from the early 2000s. For a certain subset of people, it'll also likely be dizzyingly nostalgic, invoking memories of staying up late, exchanging music, and hoping no one shouts at you to free up the phone line.

More than anything, however, Emily is Away Too is committed to its aesthetic. From the faux-installation screen to the counterfeit social media services to the way the game creates actual text files on your desktop, it all comes together to build a surprisingly vivid sense of immersion. The first time I saw a familiar name and a familiar icon in the game's buddy list, I jumped. I hadn't expected Emily is Away Too to pull from my Steam rolodex of friends but it did, and you know what? All these details do add up.

Seriously, look at that YouToob link. You could argue that it isn't particularly interactive. You can only click on the video and a few hyperlinks. But I loved the fact that there are comments from one of the game's characters, that we have the Numa Numa guy sitting there in the box, the Evolution of Dance. Shoes. And it rather charming that the Newgrounds link actually does lead you to small, playable titles on the actual Newgrounds site.
