Persona Fighting Game Headed to Consoles, Persona 4 to Vita

Posted: 30 Aug 2011 05:39 PM PDT

Persona 4

Atlus launched a teaser site not long ago, and although there was next to nothing to be seen there (save for the URL seen in the image below), one strong possibility was that Persona 4 was going to be announced as coming to either PlayStation Portable or Vita. We now have confirmation that the latter is the case, and it's not the only Persona news we have.

The Vita remake will be called Persona 4: The Golden, according to the latest issue of Famitsu (as reported by Sinobi and translated by Andriasang). Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 was released on PlayStation 2 in 2008. It's the most recent main entry in the series, with the Vita version set to introduce a new character named Mary, wireless support that lets you get help from other players when nearing death in a dungeon, new animation movies, and 50 percent more voice acting than the PS2 version.

Portal 2 Did Better on PC Than Consoles; L4D the Opposite

Posted: 30 Aug 2011 04:10 PM PDT

Portal 2

Valve is usually thought of as a PC-centric company, though in recent years it's made more of an effort to bring its games to consoles. Even so, PC still managed to be the best-selling platform for Portal 2 when compared with both consoles, Gabe Newell has revealed.

Speaking about trying to anticipate which platform will do best, Newell told Gamasutra, "We can never predict; I mean we just try to build good games and then we tend to be surprised. Portal 2 did better on the PC than it did on the consoles; Left 4 Dead did better on the consoles than it did on the PC.

"So you know we don't try to guess, because we're not sure what value there is to guessing. We've never had a situation where we said, 'We really, really want to build something that is more popular for the console guys.' Because usually we have a bunch of other higher priority problems we want to solve. So we're glad that people want to play our games wherever they want to play."

Metroid: Other M Samus Figures Coming in 2012

Max Factory Samus Metroid Other M figure

Following word from earlier this week that a pair of Samus Aran figures would be coming next year, we now have photos of what to expect.

The two figures are being created by Max Factory and are based on the look of Samus in Metroid: Other M. It might not be the most popular choice of Metroid games -- some feel it killed the series -- but they're pretty good looking nonetheless.

Tomopop got a look at them, one of which has Samus in her Zero Suit. The other is a figma and has Samus in her Power Suit.

Child of Eden Gets Bundled With Kinect

Posted: 30 Aug 2011 01:15 PM PDT

Child of Eden

Child of Eden is a very good game that didn't sell nearly as well as it deserved. It'll soon end up in many more homes as those who pick up one of the new Kinect bundles will get a free copy.

The existing $150 Kinect sensor bundle that comes with both Kinect and Kinect Adventures will be adding a download code for Child of Eden. A physical copy of Kinect Adventures still comes with it, so you're not losing anything; you'll just get an extra game that came out less than three months ago.

Kevin Butler Returns With the New "Long Live Play" PlayStation Ad Campaign

Posted: 30 Aug 2011 12:37 PM PDT

Sony's fictional vice president Kevin Butler recently "left" the company to take a job at a flooring company, according to an announcement he made on Twitter. Just a few days later, he's already making his return to help kick off a new PlayStation ad campaign called "Long Live Play," which will apparently take the place of the "It Only Does Everything" campaign we've seen over the past two years.

The video above is the first component of it. Judging by the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, this doesn't actually mark anything different happening with PlayStation. Sony simply reinforced that the PS3 has a new price, a slate of should-be-great games coming later this year, and so on.

Speaking last year about marketing the PlayStation 3, Sony's Peter Dille addressed the company's trouble in marketing the expensive system at launch.

Radiant Silvergun Slated for September 14 Release on XBLA

Radiant Silvergun

Almost a full year to the day that it was confirmed by Microsoft, Radiant Silvergun will be released on the Xbox Live Arcade.

The Treasure-developed, vertically-scrolling shooter has never been officially released out of Japan, leading to it fetching some fairly high prices on eBay. It began as an arcade game in 1998 and was ported soon after to the Sega Saturn.

Prior to its announcement, Treasure CEO Masato Maegawa said in 2009 that Microsoft had asked for the game to be brought to Xbox 360.

Metroid and Zelda II Among 3DS Ambassador NES Games [Update]

Posted: 30 Aug 2011 10:02 AM PDT

Metroid

Update: Nintendo of America's Twitter account has confirmed its region's NES offerings. It's the same as Japan, except NES Open Tournament Golf will take the place of Mario Open Golf.

Original Story: 3DS Ambassadors in North America will get access to their ten free NES games on Thursday. Only five of those have been revealed so far, but we now know which games Ambassadors in Japan will be getting.

In addition to the five we already knew about (Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and The Legend of Zelda), the final five in Japan consist of Metroid, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Mario Open Golf (similar, but not identical, to NES Open Tournament Golf), Yoshi's Egg (better known simply as Yoshi in North America), and Wrecking Crew.
