Fans of Blizzard e-sports will be interested in the new calendar just published on the BlizzCon site with dates and times of all the pre-convention qualifying tournaments for World of Warcraft Arena, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, Hearthstone and Starcraft 2.

I've been a 4X game fan almost as long as I've been a gamer. One of my fondest PC gaming memories is the many hours I spent with my brother clicking away and making decisions in Colonization from Sid Meier. I missed the boat on the original Master of Orion (MoO), but I played its sequels, and now years later and under a new developer, I'm very glad to have the chance to revisit the series thanks to the passion of Wargaming and NGD Studios.

At least one major World of Warcraft developer has left Blizzard for good and one is on leave for the imprecise future. Senior Director for Story & Creative Development James Waugh has departed on good terms from the company while Lead Quest Designer Craig Amai is on leave for an indeterminate amount of time.

Crowfall - RMTs To Be Punished For Wasting Dev Time

Crowfall team members participated in a Reddit AMA yesterday where they answered a wide variety of community questions. While there were many interesting topics and answers, the most compelling question centered around real money transactions (RMT). The developer said that RMT is a probability that comes at players' own risk. Complaining to the team will doubtless result in a punishment for the "victim" and the "perpetrator".

Guild Wars 2 - World Championship Broadcast On Twitch Today

ArenaNet has announced that the Guild Wars 2 World Championship will take place today, Saturday September 17th, beginning at 10 am Pacific / 1 pm Eastern. The event will take place in GW2 Twitch channel with teams vying for a portion of $200k prize pool. The Tournament will also be broadcast in French and German.

Blizzard has announced that players can now pay to change their BattleTag name, the unique identifier for each player's account. BattleTag names do not have to be unique as each will be followed by a hashtag and series of numbers to create the one-of-a-kind name. The change does nothing to a friends' list with others immediately be able to see the new name.

Web-Based Gateway Closing Due to Botting Activity

Cryptic Studios has announced that the web-based Neverwinter Gateway site is being closed due to "several aggressive botting activities". The move was necessary due to the number of developer hours being spent combating bot activity that the team felt could be better spent elsewhere.

Mount & Blade Warband Released for PS4 and XB1

Warband has been available for PC since 2010 and Steam reviews are 'overwhelmingly positive'. The Marvel Heroes Online site has been updated with big news that a series of updates will be incoming that will update every Hero, every character build, including power points to include meaningful choices; revamping talents so that every Hero will have five sets; Heroes to be given both Defensive, Offensive and some with a Mechanic traits; Hero balance to improve the health of the game and much, much more.
