WildStar: Boss Hunter Challenge for Big Rewards

WildStar players can take part in the Boss Hunter Challenge from January 7th through January 10th. World Bosses and Legendary Champions sit in the reticule of all players and when one is brought down, they will feature a 100% chance to drop a Shiny Token and a lockbox key. Normal monsters also have a small chance to drop the same.

General: Rick & Morty to Star in New Pokemon-Style Game

Adult Swim announced that a new free game will be released based on its show Rick & Morty. The game will be a mash up of Pokemon and Rick & Morty, unsurprisingly called Pocket Mortys and will be released on January 14th. At this time, there is no definitive listing of what platforms or how much the game will cost but we'll keep you posted as more information is released.

Final Fantasy XV: Hajime Tabata Confirms 2016 Release

In a new post on the Final Fantasy XV site, Hajime Tabata has revealed that the game will definitely be released in 2016, though the final phases of development will "focus on effort and willpower".

The latest Revival newsletter has been sent out and is a review of the highs and lows of 2015. Development of Revival slowed a bit as the team was cut back after the loss of some funding but things have continued despite the setback.

Lord of the Rings Online: New Datacenter Hardware, EU Location to be Added

Lord of the Rings Online players will be happy to hear that the datacenters will be moving on Monday, January 11th, new hardware included. In the most uplifting news, EU players will be able to enjoy much lower latency thanks to a new datacenter opening in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

General: Is Beta the New Launch?

After taking time to read yesterday's feature on The Upcoming MMOs of 2016 it really seems like more and more games that are launching in 2016 are already playable now. I've asked this question years ago when beta keys were given out like candy as a marketing ploy to get new players into the game. Betas are supposed to be for testing, at least, they used to be. Now, instead of being used to market a game, they are just outright used to sell the game in early access.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward: Yugiri Mistwalker Voice Actress, Sian Blake, Feared Dead

BBC News is reporting that the voice actress behind Yugiri Mistwalker from Final Fantasy XIV and her two children were reported missing after not being seen since December 13th. Police on site at the family's home have discovered a trio of bodies in the yard, presumably those of Blake and her young sons. Blake's partner, responsible for alerting authorities about his missing family members, disappeared himself three days later.

General: Resurgence - A New RPG Kickstarter Inspired by the Classics

Fans of CohhCarnage will be happy to know that he and Nectar Game Studios have sent word that the KickStarter crowd-funding initiative for its RPG Resurgence has begun. Called an episodic single-player RPG, Resurgence is said to be inspired by classics and will 'fuse dark fantasy and diesel-punk'.

inXile has big news for fans of Torment: Tides of Numenera: Backers will be able to check out the Numenera beta beginning the week of January 17th with Steam Early Access scheduled to start on January 26th. Players will be able to experience Torment's earliest zones in what the team calls a "quite lengthy (experience) for an early beta."

Origins Of Malu: 'Slowly Coming Back Alive' According to New Post

SMITE: World Championships to Kick Off on January 7th

General: Oculus 2012 Backers to Get Free Kickstarter Edition Rift

Backers of the original Oculus Rift 2012 KickStarter initiative will be rewarded for their faith and forward vision. Backers will be given a free retail "Kickstarter Edition" Oculus Rift headset. Surveys will be sent out before February 1st. This gift affects nearly 7,000 of the original 9,500 backers.
