Star Wars: The Old Republic: KotFE May Be the Expansion Youre Looking For Posted: 25 Sep 2015 05:35 AM PDT It may seem at odds to use the words "epic" and "accessible" in the same sentence, but Bioware and EA's upcoming expansion to Star Wars: The Old Republic seeks to embody both of those terms in equal measure. If the entirety of Knights of the Fallen Empire (KotFE) is matched by the brief playthrough that I was privy to at an offsite preview yesterday, the expansion is going to pack quite a bit of a punch, while still being inviting to newer players. |

General: HTC Vive: Not in Kansas Anymore Posted: 23 Sep 2015 01:28 PM PDT In between appointments with indie game developers at PAX Prime this year I was able to slip in and experience the HTC Vive. If this is the first you are hearing of the Vive it is HTC's entry into the virtual reality space in collaboration with Valve (you know, those people behind Steam). I've used the first two versions of the Oculus Rift so I had a general idea of what to expect. However what I experienced was leaps and bounds ahead of what I have experienced in previous years. |
Posted: 24 Sep 2015 04:02 AM PDT In approximately a month's time, subscribers to Star Wars: the Old Republic will be playing the new expansion and no doubt blazing a trail through the nine chapters of the new story that will be released at launch. Whether you prefer to gobble it up in one sitting or take your time and savor, there's plenty of new BioWare-flavored story to enjoy. However, let's take a look at what will happen if you're not a subscriber. |
EverQuest II: Sundered Ground Expansion Prelude Begins Posted: 24 Sep 2015 12:03 PM PDT Sundered Ground is the next EverQuest II expansion and will be released on November 3rd. Beginning today, EQII players can take part in a prelude event that will run until the expansion release in November. The event includes a special "currency" called Primordial Malice Baubles that can be used to buy special event items while it is live. |
World of Warships: Ah, the Joy of Blowing Up Large Ships On Screen Posted: 23 Sep 2015 12:42 PM PDT Wargaming.net has created a fantastic presence in the online space with its historical combat games. World of Tanks burst onto the scene and rose to power as one of the best battle arena games created in years. It stayed true to history and quickly gained the respect of millions of players. World of Warplanes had a tougher time of it. The key to these games is having maps which give players a chance to compete, not too many obstacles in the open air. |

Destiny: The Taken King Review - No Longer Taken for Granted Posted: 23 Sep 2015 12:04 PM PDT My relationship with Destiny is complicated. On one hand, it would only take a subtle prodding to get me to unleash a violent torrent of criticisms and resentment towards a game that was so obviously a shell of its true potential. On the other hand, I had sunk more time into it than I would ever care to admit in front of polite company. And so, Destiny made me a walking hypocrite. |
