General: MMO+ - Helping Players Find the Perfect MMO Posted: 14 Aug 2015 06:40 AM PDT A new project has crossed our desk that will be of keen interest to our readers and to those still searching for the right MMO experience. The site is called MMO+ and it is a database of MMOs with filters applied that help players specify precisely what parameters they wish to find in any given MMO. |

Chrono Wars: If Only I Could Go Back in Time Posted: 12 Aug 2015 05:15 PM PDT What message does it send when one of the greatest features in a video game is the ability to not play it? What does it say about the quality of that game, about the exchange that you are expected to make of your time and money in return for an experience? Chrono Wars pushes this question with almost every kilobyte of its being, and after spending the last few weeks grinding away to increase my character's power, I'm afraid there is only one obvious answer. |

General: Returning to The Elder Scrolls Online Posted: 13 Aug 2015 02:04 PM PDT The release process of modern MMOs seems to have settled into a normative pattern: Game X gets announced, pre-purchase packs go on sale, closed betas are marketed, and open beta marks the informal launch. These phases are followed by a more official kickoff down the road, which may or may not include a rebranding as free-to-play after a certain amount of time. |
Diablo 3: New & Upgraded Armor Sets Shine Posted: 14 Aug 2015 11:57 AM PDT The Diablo III team has released a new video to show off a trio of new armor sets (Crusader, Monk & Witch Doctor) and a pair of upgraded armor sets (Witch Doctor and Wizard) that will arrive with the massive 2.3.0 update that is currently on the PTR. Check out the devastating power that these represent and leave us your thoughts! |

General: Bioware, Accessible Doesnt Have to Mean Easy Posted: 13 Aug 2015 01:58 PM PDT Accessibility: It seems to be the mantra for AAA RPGs these days. By itself, there's no problem with that, being accessible is something all games should aspire to so more players can enjoy them. The problem is, developers too often think more accessibility should mean less difficulty. Looking through my library of games, one studio stood out more than any other: Bioware. Outside of DLC, when was the last time a core Bioware game challenged you? |
