General: Five Things That Shook the MMO World Before WoW Posted: 20 Jul 2015 01:06 PM PDT It wasn't very long ago that the MMOG category was practically unknown. Indeed, with only a very small selection of titles running, none of which had the number of players we can often find these days on a single server, it was barely a category at all. So, for those of us who remember the original Neverwinter Nights, Air Warrior, The Realm Online et al, many pleasant surprises lay ahead. A lot of them took place between 1997 and 2004. Naturally some particularly stood out. |

It's a Digital TCG, in the same vein as Magic: the Gathering, only radically different once you get under the hood. Being digital brings a whole new level of things they can do with the simple card game mechanics. Things that would be incredibly difficult, if not downright impossible, to do for a traditional, in-person, card game. |

Trove: Calling on Creative Types to Help Design a Shadow Titan Posted: 19 Jul 2015 06:04 PM PDT The Trove team is asking the creative community to "think outside the box" to create a Shadow Titan, to "Create a Boss, Like a Boss". Players are asked to post their ideas in a specially created thread on the Trove forum by Friday, July 24th. From the group, several will be chosen to be 'top contenders' from among which players will choose a winner. |
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Patch v3.3 Delayed Posted: 20 Jul 2015 04:00 PM PDT Bioware's Eric Musco has posted on the Star Wars: The Old Republic forums that the v3.3 patch that includes the playable Togruta race, has been delayed for the time being. The team is anxious to get it into the hands of players and will deploy the update as soon as possible with more information to be released tomorrow. |

General: Trion Removes Third Party Single Player Games From Glyph Posted: 20 Jul 2015 09:01 AM PDT During an upcoming interview with Scott Hartsman, it was revealed that Trion has ended its experiment with selling single-player DRM-free games. All third party games not published by Trion have been removed from Glyph. Affected consumers were notified Friday evening along with the news that purchased games will be retained. Players will receive keys for other services that support those games alongside $100 in free credits for any of Trion's stable of titles. |
