WildStar: E3 2015: Take a Look at WildStars Free-to-Play Transition, Cupcake Posted: 23 Jun 2015 05:27 PM PDT WildStar has always been a terrific candidate for a non-subscription-based business model, and at E3 2015 last week, we got a chance to chat with Carbine Studios about their flagship MMORPG's upcoming free-to-play transition. It's no surprise that they've received a great response to the transition since their announcement of it a few weeks ago, with over 100,000 free-to-play beta signups in the first day. |
General: MMORPGs Best of E3 2015 Awards Posted: 24 Jun 2015 08:48 AM PDT It's that time of year! Time to blather on about the games we drooled over the most at E3 2015. Yes, we know these awards mean very little in the grand scheme of things. But stop being so pessimistic. Games are fun, and being excited about the ones you want to play in the future is part of what makes this hobby so great. So without further ado, here are our picks for the Best of E3 2015. |
Destiny: Bungie Issues An Apology to Fans Posted: 23 Jun 2015 08:07 PM PDT Bungie's Luke Smith, Creative Director for The Taken King, has taken to the Weekly Update to apologize to veteran Destiny players for the recent dissatisfaction with the pre-purchase program announced for the expansion. Players loudly complained at the inequity of having to re-purchase the full game and the expansion in order to get the collector's edition perks. |

General: In Plain English: Bassett vs Electronic Arts Posted: 23 Jun 2015 12:36 PM PDT I run a segment on my home website MMO Fallout called In Plain English, for the sake of giving updates on recent court proceedings. My reasoning is pretty simple: The news tends to stop reporting on legal matters once they have started, and when cases can go years without a resolution, tend to forget about them. Lawsuits are long, complicated, and when it comes to news headlines, 99% of the time they're just plain boring. A lot of motions, responses, and applications. |

Elder Scrolls Online: Long Overdue PvP Changes Are Finally Happening Posted: 23 Jun 2015 12:25 PM PDT The Elder Scrolls Online is now, despite a few typical launch hiccups, a multiplatform release. Other than a few console launch matters, it finally begins to feel like all of the game's audience is being addressed again. While some felt cast aside in part due to the console announcements and stalled changes over the past three months, we're finally at the point where new announcements can happen. |
