UPDATE on Return to ArcheAge Gift Packs Spur Kerfuffle

Trion is under fire from some quarters of the ArcheAge community for gift packages sent out to former players in an effort to get them back into the game. The "Return to ArcheAge" gifts included several RNG boxes, potions and Library access scrolls. However, several random boxes also included the $100 "Secrets Pack" and the Cynafin Dolphin which gave its name to the kerfuffle now known as "Dolphingate".

Masquerada PAX East Hands-On Preview

When browsing through the list of games on display at the Indie Megabooth at this year's PAX East, Witching Hour Studios' Masquerada: Songs and Shadows immediately jumped out to me. The trailer for the 2.5D isometric RPG offered a glimpse at the game's striking, French comic book inspired art style and "pause for tactics" combat system, which should be immediately familiar to anyone who has played BioWare CRPGs such as Baldur's Gate or the various Dragon Age titles.

Ultimate Tokyo Story Pack Now Available

Funcom has announced that a new story pack for The Secret World is available for a great price. Called the "Ultimate Tokyo Story Pack", the collection includes an Orochi pilot jumpsuit, two side-stories packs with eleven extra missions, and Issues 9-11. Issue 11 will bring the Tokyo story to a close and will be released in April 2015.

Closed Beta #2 Coming March 25th

The second closed beta phase for Skyforge will be heading out on March 25th. Players will have a lot of new content to try out with four new classes to unlock, a new 5-player dungeon, an open world location on Naori Island, an 8v8 "superiority" PvP mode, and something called the Nedder Test Area.

Dungeons of Aledorn: Inspired by Dungeon Style RPGS of Yesteryear

Earlier this week European game developer Team21 launched a Kickstarter looking to fund their project Dungeon of Aledorn. Doing more than just coming to the table asking for money, Team21 has already produced a tech demo that shows off combat and can be downloaded by anyone on their Kickstarter page. If you are a fan of X:Com and Blackguard you may find that DoA is a game designed with you in mind. Read on for a recent interview I had with Ladislav Štojdl game designer for DoA.
