Darkest Dungeon: A Gothic Roguelike Not for the Faint of Heart Posted: 28 Jan 2015 04:31 PM PST At its most basic level, Darkest Dungeon is a Gothic themed side-scrolling turn-based RPG that emphasizes the psychological stresses of dungeon crawling. Ever wonder what's going on in the head of your Demon Hunter as she explores the nightmarish depths of Hell in Diablo 3? Surely, our heroes are tough - but at some point all of this horror must take a toll, right? |
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Cantina Tour at PAX South: A New Hope Posted: 28 Jan 2015 01:01 PM PST This past weekend, several members of BioWare Austin descended upon San Antonio for PAX South in the latest Star Wars: The Old Republic Cantina Tour stop. In it, guests were treated to the usual Q&A interspersed with prizes for correctly answering trivia questions. Unusually, the event was actually held on-site at PAX and required a badge although it wasn't a part of official programming. |

General: PAX South 2015: First Look at CABAL 2 Posted: 28 Jan 2015 12:38 PM PST When someone invites you up to their hotel room, unless you've been sharing drinks at the bar and developed a certain subtle understanding, it's typically a good idea to refuse. When the word "cabal" is uttered in the same proposition, a thrown glass for distraction and immediate sprint for the nearest exit would be the course of wisdom. |
Crowfall: New Class, Combat & World Rulesets Explored Posted: 29 Jan 2015 09:27 AM PST In the latest post on the Crowfall site, the team introduces players to the next character class, the Stoneborn Forgemaster. High in strength but low in intellect, Forgemasters are melee specialists. In addition to the archetype class, the team also shows off the way that worlds will be individualized and feature their own rulesets. Players will be able to travel between the worlds to take part in activities as they wish rather than be 'stuck' on one server type. |
General: Scrolls: The Overshadowed Second Game Posted: 28 Jan 2015 12:28 PM PST When your first game as a developer was an incredible hit like Mojang's Minecraft, this means unavoidably a hard life for whatever comes next. While it's almost impossible to live up to expectations, at least you have the benefit of the spotlight. However, you are really out of luck when at the same time one of the industry leaders decides to release a game in the same genre - which happened with Blizzard and Hearthstone. Scrolls was unlucky enough to get overshadowed not only once, but twice. |
KingsRoad: Everythings for Sale on the Kings Road Posted: 28 Jan 2015 01:18 PM PST The iOS port of Kings Road brings this action RPG game to the mobile platform. It is marginally an MMO as there is a town square, guild functions and group play. A linear game, skills and features (blacksmith, alchemist, banker) open up as you play as well as getting spammed with items to buy every time you set foot in town - which is at log-in and at quest completion. |
