Marvel Heroes 2015: Magneto to be Second Playable Villain Posted: 05 Dec 2014 10:29 PM PST Magneto being the owner of arguably, some of the coolest superpowers ever, it's no surprise MH 2015 is adding him to its villainous roster. As the game's 41st playable character, he'll add not only his ahem...magnetism, but the voice of James Arnold Taylor, known for portraying Ratchet, of Ratchet and Clank fame, and Tidus from Final Fantasy X. |

EVE Online: Rhea Update Launches Posted: 05 Dec 2014 02:52 PM PST CCP Games has announced the launch of the latest EVE Online content expansion called "Rhea". Players have much to look forward to in the form of new ships, over a hundred new wormhole systems and a massive star system to explore. Rhea is the second winter content expansion that, according to the development team, sets the stage for massive overhauls to game mechanics and more in 2015. |
General: Runemaster Development Frozen, Team Reassigned Posted: 05 Dec 2014 02:44 PM PST Paradox Interactive has a new post on the official forums that lets the community know that development of the procedural RPG, Runemaster, has been frozen. According to the post, the game was not meeting the high standards that Paradox sets for its titles but that the company had learned valuable lessons in the process. The Runemaster team has been reassigned and Paradox is considering reusing the assets created on another project. |
General: Should Games Make Political Statements? Posted: 03 Dec 2014 06:24 PM PST Gamergate has invaded the public consciousness. What was once a simple conversation about ethics in gaming journalism has spiraled into an all-out shouting match with anything progressive firmly falling in the movement's sights and any critics being quickly labeled as bigots. As I've played through Dragon Age: Inquisition, encountering characters of every stripe and sexuality, my mind kept returning to these themes. Did Bioware include this character or that for a reason? |
The Secret World: Issue 10 Nightmare in the Dream Palace Preview Posted: 05 Dec 2014 01:47 PM PST The Secret World issue 10: Nightmare in the Dream Palace is live, and we recently had the chance to run around the other side of Tokyo in a look at the brand new content. When we last left issue 9, there had been a huge explosion that conveniently reduced the quarantine wall that had been blocking off one side of Tokyo from the other, to more of an inconvenience than an obstacle. Issue 9 worked to lay down the foundations of new systems and new strategies, specifically having to do with Aegis. |
Destiny: Three Things Destiny Can Do To Improve Posted: 04 Dec 2014 03:15 PM PST In a column last month, I took a look at the potential for good gameplay to trump other outdated systems and keep us hooked on otherwise mediocre games. The example I used was Destiny, which has a solid core shooter experience but is relatively uninteresting in the story, content, and loot departments. I've been playing more of Bungie's pseudo-MMOFPS, and suffice it to say that even its fun twitch gameplay is starting to wear thin. |
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor - Bringing Back the Glory Days Posted: 03 Dec 2014 06:08 PM PST Right from the get-go, it needs to be said that Warlords of Draenor is a fantastic expansion. It has hit many of the right notes in all the right ways beginning with the stat and skill pruning that has been much discussed over the last year or so. Players have fewer skills, but better ones overall. Traveling through the world on the way to 100, fighting in both normal and heroic dungeons, anywhere in Draenor requires thought. |
