General: Kingdom Hearts: Catching Up with the Co-Director Posted: 27 Aug 2014 08:21 PM PDT Fans of Kingdom Hearts certainly have a lot to look forward to. Firstly, Kingdom Hearts HD II.5 ReMIX will be hitting North American shelves on December 2, bringing gorgeous remastered visuals with it. And if that's not enough, Kingdom Hearts III is in development for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, giving developer Square Enix the freedom to be 'crazy to do what we want.' |
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor: An Amazing Experience Posted: 28 Aug 2014 11:26 PM PDT Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is a new single-player RPG developed by Monolith Productions. Widely anticipated with features that many gamers have long requested of game studios, Franklin Rinaldi and I were lucky enough to get some hands-on play at the Monolith studios in Kirkland, WA the day before PAX was to start. |

Dawngate: It'll Make a Believer Out of You Posted: 28 Aug 2014 08:11 AM PDT I've never been a fan of MOBAs. I can't roleplay in them, they aren't really known for being big on customization either. So that's two of my favorite things in games taken out from the start. I never really bothered to give them the time of day. But after I met the Dawngate development team all of that changed. I'm actually giving Dawngate a try. You could say that they made a believer out of me. |

Das Tal: Understanding the Approach Posted: 26 Aug 2014 06:13 PM PDT How do you produce a sandbox MMO with a minimal team? That's exactly what Alexander Zacherl and Fairytale Distillery have been doing with their latest project Das Tal. Currently in early alpha, it aims to preserve that feeling of progression and power growth by restarting the world every few months. During Gamescom, he sat down with columnist Gareth Harmer to explain the concept in more detail. |
Posted: 28 Aug 2014 01:38 AM PDT Last week I hopped back into Neverwinter after an extended hiatus. If you want to get up to speed you can read the column here. Even after expressing my discontent for uncleverly disguised daily quests I decided to slog through it for a week and take one for the MMORPG.com community. In some ways I was pleasantly surprised. In others it was worse than I expected. |
