Over the years MMOs have become well-known for lots of different things. Endless hours of grinding, epic battles on a massive scale, and deeply immersive worlds immediately come to mind. One thing that you probably don't think of however, is User Generated Content. By nature of the inherent design and network challenges associated with persistent online worlds, it's difficult to create User-Generated content systems that actually work well.

General: SKARA: The Blade Remains - Steam Early Access October 9th

Indie developers like to do things a little differently and so when 8-Bit came up with SKARA: The Blade Remains, they also came up with their own genre. Called a "Multiplayer Online Versus" (MOV), SKARA is a competitive, multiplatform free-to-play game that will be available for PS4, Xbox 360 and PC. The Steam Early Access version will launch October 9th at a price point of $19.

General: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Gets New Card Game - Gwent

CD PROJEKT RED is enhancing its open-world RPG, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by adding in a dwarven-invented, strategy card game. Called Gwent, the game is a popular tavern pasttime that contains 150 unique cards featuring four factions, plus various spells, combat styles, and heroes.

Dungeon of the Endless: Indie Roguelike Coming to Xbox One

Gamescom's spouting a wealth of indie game news tidbits, among them that Amplitude Studios is bringing its retro dungeon defense game Dungeon of the Endless to Xbox One. The Xbox version will have all the PC game's combat, strategy, exploration and loot, but will be optimized for the Xbox One gamepad.
