WRUP: The internet isn't real edition Posted: 07 Jun 2014 08:00 AM PDT Filed under: Massively Meta, Miscellaneous Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you tell us how you're not a jerk even though you act like one on the internet. Which is perfectly OK, of course, since the internet isn't a real place and what goes on there is but a figment of our collective imagination.Continue reading WRUP: The internet isn't real edition WRUP: The internet isn't real edition originally appeared on Massively on Sat, 07 Jun 2014 10:00:00 EST. The Daily Grind: What was your favorite Mythic memory? Posted: 07 Jun 2014 06:00 AM PDT Filed under: Culture, Opinion, The Daily Grind, Miscellaneous, Sunsets It's been a little over a week since Mythic Entertainment went out with a whimper, and as a former Warhammer Online fan, I'm still feeling a little sad about it. I appreciated the studio's enthusiasm and vision, even if I wasn't as much into PvP as some of those devs were. But at least a couple of the studio's former charges live on -- as do our memories. So what was your favorite memory involving a Mythic game, the studio, or the dev team? Let's raise a virtual glass and give a fond toast to yesterday's tales. Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind! The Stream Team: Where the WildStar veggies are Posted: 06 Jun 2014 04:00 PM PDT Filed under: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Video, New Titles, Livestream, WildStar, The Stream Team, Subscription If there's one benefit to playing WildStar in beta before playing it live, it's the chance to do the funnest quest ever more than once on your main. RIFT calls players to arms for in-game event Posted: 06 Jun 2014 02:00 PM PDT Filed under: Fantasy, Events (In-Game), Free-to-Play, RIFT RIFT's Moonshade and Droughtlands zones are under attack, and it's only the courage and bravery of players sitting safely at home behind a computer screen that can save the day!Trion Worlds is hosting a weekend event during which these two areas will see an increased frequency of invasions. From now through June 9th, there will be more rifts, double currency, and the chance of getting a Lavender Hellbug or Sapphire Ki Rin by participating in these zones. Trion reminds players that they might need to mentor down to the zone's level in order to get participation rewards. RuneScape shows you the making of an epic quest Posted: 06 Jun 2014 01:00 PM PDT Filed under: Fantasy, Video, PvE, RuneScape, Free-to-Play, Browser, Dev Diaries RuneScape puts more thought than most MMOs do into the creation and execution of its quests, so when the devs want to share how they make one of these, it might behoove you to show some respect. No, you don't need to kneel. Maybe give it a solemn nod or something. In a new video -- one that you, yes you, can watch after the break -- Jagex takes its playerbase on a tour of the making of "The Mighty Fall" quest. Get a feel for where this quest fits into the greater storyline as well as see how an entire team works together to fashion such a mission. We don't think you'll be disappointed. Elite: Dangerous newsletter focuses on E3 offerings Posted: 06 Jun 2014 12:00 PM PDT Filed under: Sci-Fi, Previews, News Items, Community Q&A, Sandbox, Elite: Dangerous It's impossible for any development studio not to be thinking about E3 next week. It sort of dominates the industry landscape, after all. So it's no big surprise that the latest Elite: Dangerous newsletter focuses chiefly upon what Frontier Developments will bring to the convention. In short, it'll be a chance for everyone in attendance to get their hands on the game and preview the game's current beta as well as chatting with the development staff. The newsletter also answers a few community questions. Many of the locations in the game are meant to be far away from the core of gameplay without any shortcuts, specifically to enhance the feeling of being far from core hubs and the majority of players. The game will have Imperial content, but that will come into play as the game's play space expands rather than being an immediate focus. For a few more answers, take a look at the full newsletter. PlanetSide 2 launches an E3 PS4 trailer Posted: 06 Jun 2014 11:00 AM PDT Filed under: Sci-Fi, Trailers, Video, News Items, Free-to-Play, Consoles, MMOFPS, PlanetSide 2 PlanetSide 2 is expanding to the PlayStation 4 in the near future, and there's reason for fans to be excited. Not just for the momentary giggle when you realize that you're playing PS2 on a PS4. There should be more details available at next week's E3, but for now, you can feast your eyes on the game's console trailer just past the break. If you're expecting some heretofore unseen game mechanics, you'll be disappointed, but if you're looking forward to seeing the game in action, you'll be quite pleased. It's all of the large-scale science fiction warfare from the PC on a console, and it doesn't look half bad at that. If you own a PS4 and want a bit more territory-controlling shooting, jump on down to the trailer.
