Battle of the Immortals - Legend of the East preview

Posted: 03 Aug 2011 11:56 PM PDT

So, despite the concerns of BoI players after Empire of the Immortals (EoI) in China, the original game in the Immortals franchise is gearing up for yet another content update. The new expansion is translated directly as Legend of the East and will hit the BoI China servers on 30th August. As suggested in the title, majority (not all) of the new maps in the expansion will have a heavy oriental flair to them. A new high level instance, the expansion's main showpiece, promises to strike terror into the most veteran players!

But that is not all! Introducing the new class, Summoner! This Summoner is different from most games' as the class here originates from the East and their main magic elements are Fire and Light. With their original summoning skills, Western magic was studied as well and added into their arsenal of spells.

They will be able to summon demons, fairies and even be possessed by certain summons to gain additional stats. As a support class, they can also form magic barriers to protect team members or to damage enemies. The Summoner is one class not to be missed when forming a party!

There will be a new Star Tablet (loosely translated) system which will help guide players on character advancement. For example, which stats to add, which skills to learn... There is currently no detailed information yet though.

The city of Atlantis (above) is facing a crisis! As the sunken city edges nearer to the sea surface, unexpected changes are about to occur within! How will Atlantis look like after the expansion?

ArcheAge - My package from Korea arrives

Posted: 03 Aug 2011 09:34 AM PDT

So, with the help of my Korean colleague, I managed to order these gems from... Korea of course. The 350 page novel takes place 2000 years before the lore found in the ArcheAge MMO, with it penned by famous fantasy author Min Hee Jeon. This should be the first in a few books leading to the game's current storyline. Having bought 2 copies, I shall kindly lend one to my colleague to translate *evil smile*.

TERA - North America server delays launch

Posted: 03 Aug 2011 10:08 AM PDT

(Source) After various reports about the core development team having troubles (link) back in Korea, EnMasse Entertainment, developer Bluehole Studio's North American branch, has announced the delay of TERA to 2012. Alpha testing will begin later this year, with beta testing expected to start early 2012. Update: The European server under Frogster will launch in Spring 2012 as well. With Electronic Arts' mega MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic expected to launch later this year, will this have an impact on either games?

Transformers Online (CN) - Limited Closed Beta starts

Posted: 03 Aug 2011 07:43 AM PDT

I am typing this post with a heavy heart. The reason being I wasn't able to secure or apply for a key to enter NetDragon's new MMO third person shooter, Transformers Online. The first phase, Elite Closed Beta, is now commonly known through the Chinese gaming industry. But I shall call it Limited Closed Beta instead since it is my blog :D With the beta phase's start, the new trailer which was teased at ChinaJoy 2011 was released into the wild as well.

Transformers Online is following what most online shooters are doing now, with both PvE and PvP maps for players to enjoy. But do note that the game is a third person shooter, still a rarity in my opinion in the global online gaming market.

Unfortunately, there seems to be little chance Transformers Online will be ported to the English market, as Jagex will be developing Transformers Universe (link) instead, a browser MMO. If you are asking why can't 2 Transformers MMO survive in the same market, you will have to ask Hasbro yourself... More information can be found in my previous posts (link).
