General: Is The Genre Stronger With Fluid Classes?

As is customary with this column, most of my topics come about from talking to friends. This week's is no exception and as a small group of us chatted about classes in MMO's, most of us agreed that they were often restrictive and unnecessary. I suspect that such a view isn't as popular amongst the majority as it is my group of friends, but it certainly started a lengthy debate.

Blade & Soul: Hongmoon Rising Prequel Announced by NCSoft

2P.com is reporting that NCSoft and TenCent have announced a prequel to Blade & Soul called "Blade & Soul: Hongmoon Rising". This will be a completely separate game that will share the game universe, a similar skill system and character relationships. The future ostensibly holds VR support and mobile deployment as well.

Aion will be updated in the EU on August 10th with the Lost Memories patch. Players can look forward to a new level cap, adventures in two new areas, four new instances as well as new character creation options and improved animations.
