E FUN Adds Three New Windows 8.1 Devices to Nextbook 2-in-1 Tablet Family

E FUN, a California-based purveyor of cheap Android and Windows tablets, is going to CES 2015 armed with three new Windows 8.1 tablets. When they become available later this year, these devices will all be part of the company's existing Nextbook line of 2-in-1 tablets, the cheapest of which is an Intel Atom-powered 8-incher that is available right now for just $99.

The three Windows 8.1 tablets in the company's CES 2015 lineup, it can be said, are the same device but with three different displays — 10.1" (1280x800 IPS), 11.6" (1366x768 IPS) and 12.5" (1366x768 TN). Here's what you will find inside these upcoming tablets:

  • Detachable keyboard with magnetic POGO connection for superior portability and versatility; standard USB port on keyboard
  • Windows 8.1 Operating System
  • Quad-Core Intel AtomTM Z3735F Processor (X86, 1.8GHz)
  • 2GB DDR3L system memory
  • 32GB internal storage (10.1" model) / 64GB internal storage (11.6" and 12.5" models)
  • Expandable storage via microSD card up to 64GB
  • Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity options
  • 2 megapixel front and rear cameras with microphone
  • Micro USB port, mini HDMI port, audio jack
  • 3-axis g-sensor for apps and gaming
  • Preloaded software including Nook for Windows 8 (10.1" model includes one-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Personal with 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage for one year and 60 Skype world minutes per month)

According to the company, the new 10.1", 11.6" and 12.5" Nextbook models will all be available in May 2015, priced at $229, $249 and $279, respectively.

Acer Announces Two New Gaming Monitors, Touts Their ‘World First Designs’

ACER XG270HU: The World's First Gaming Monitor with Edge-to-edge Frameless Display

One is the world's maiden G-Sync enabled IPS monitor and the other the first with an edge-to-edge frameless display

Acer has officially announced the 27-inch XB270HU gaming monitor that we told you about in November. Specs-wise, it's not exactly what we had expected it to be, though. What we thought would be another TN (twisted nematic) panel display with G-Sync has, to our pleasant surprise, turned out to be the world's first G-SYNC enabled gaming monitor with an IPS display. But it is not the only upcoming Acer gaming monitor to pack a world-first design choice.

Acer XB270HU IPS Gaming Display with Nvidia G-SyncA 27-incher with with WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution and 144Hz refresh rate like the XB270HU (pictured left), the XG270HU (right) is another sui generis monitor announced by the company. The XG270HU, which has a fast 1ms response time, is unique for its edge-to-edge frameless display — a world first, according to the company. Built from recycled ABS plastic, it features HDMI 2.0, DVI, and DisplayPort 1.2.

Both models will be available around the world in March 2015, the company said in its announcement, without disclosing their prices.
