San Diego Comic-Con eSports Panel Insights

San Diego Comic-Con showcased quite a few of our exciting video game panels, one of which was focused on eSports. Sam "Samzorz" Hall, Scott "Gandhi" Lussier and John "ZeRo4" Hill, joined me on location to reveal how aspiring gamers can become professional eSports players. Although Ryan "Fwiz" Wyatt and Sean "Day[9]" Plott were unable to speak at the event, I caught up with them afterwards to capture their valuable insight for this special edition column.

The whole notion of MMO gamers being "entitled" is way overblown. There, I said it. We're at the point where we've seen a couple of major releases this year so far, and we're seeing talk all over the place --from gaming publications, to social media to forums--about whether the releases that came with subscriptions attached should or will go free to play, and how long that will take.

The World of Warcraft community site has been updated with a notice to fans that the Warlords of Draenor opening cinematic and its exact release date will be announced on August 14th. The event will be live streamed and local Los Angeles residents can attend in person.

Moonrise Announced by Kabam & Undead Labs

State of Decay developer Undead Labs has announced a partnership project with Kabam. The pair are working on a new mobile RPG called Moonrise. Little else than the announcement was made, though the press release indicates that Moonrise will make its debut at this year's PAX Prime.

MMOs typically offer a huge amount of content compared to games in other genres. But eventually players experience everything a game world has to offer, which leads to expansions. ArenaNet has tried a new method to add some content to expand the story of the game, known as the Living World. Perfect World Entertainment has announced via the Rusty Hearts Arc page that the game will be shuttering its doors and ending service on September 15, 2014. The game, as of today, will no longer be available for download and players with Zen on account will have the ability to transfer it to a different PWE title.

Perfect World Entertainment has announced today to shut down its first foreign title Rusty on September 15th. Besides, the game is no longer downloadable and won't will be accepting new ZEN deposits. It will remain playable until the 15th for current players, however, and PWE is refunding the past six months' worth of ZEN to use in the company's other titles.

Due to popular demand after the Horde version of the Chopper has been added to the game free for all Horde players that log in between now and September 30, 2014, Blizzard has decided to add the Alliance version too. Many players have QQed that the Horde is the ultimate faction and Alliance isn't getting enough recoginition and whatnot. Well, at least they aren't making it free!
