How Would YOU Fix Skyrim?

You've heard our ideas for smoothing over Skyrim's flaws. Now let's hear yours.

By: 1UP Staff March 20, 2012

Not too long ago, we published our thoughts on how Bethesda might go about fixing some of Skyrim's more significant issues -- if not with a patch for Skyrim, then at least when The Elder Scrolls VI rolls around in a few years. Some of them were practical, nitty-gritty suggestions, while others were more an act of free association. And you... well, you had many opinions about our thoughts. Both the 1UP community and a number of Elder Scrolls fans at Reddit had plenty to say about our piece and where Bethesda should take the franchise. We've rounded up the most thoughtful (and civil!) responses below; turns out you folks have some well-informed and interesting ideas about Skyrim. We'd like to play your version of the game.

Play Operation Raccoon City With Us and Help Shape 1UP's Review

Posted: 20 Mar 2012 03:00 PM PDT

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a big game, one that chronicles the transformation of sleepy midwestern town into a deadly zombie-infested hellhole. I've already expressed my concerns regarding Raccoon City, but rather than go it alone on our final review, I'd like to ask you, the 1UP faithful, to work with me and help overcome the nightmarish challenges within the game.

The process of participating is simple. If you own Raccoon City on Xbox 360, send a friend request to Mr Sushi X. Then, make some time to play online between 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. tonight, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 21, or 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22. (All times listed are Pacific Daylight Time, so make sure you do the math if you live in another timezone and plan to participate.) Based on the number of players who join in, we'll tackle coop modes or try competitive challenges together.

Sony May Be Mobile-Friendly, But Don't Expect a Proper God of War iOS Release

Posted: 20 Mar 2012 02:16 PM PDT

God of War III

The God of War series has spanned four platforms to date, a figure that will only continue to grow over time. Many of Sony's big franchises are already available on or are coming to Vita, and one would expect God of War will be no different. But could God of War also make its way to other, non-Sony systems like, for instance, iOS?

That's exactly what was alluded to in a new interview with IGN. Shannon Studstill, the senior director of product development at Sony Computer Entertainment America, addressed the possibility of God of War heading to mobile platforms like iOS by saying, "I think with the way the industry's playing that dysfunctional passive aggressive type of mentality, we as a company and we as an industry constantly have to look at all opportunities. It doesn't mean we'll go there, but there's certainly reason to talk about it."

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Aims to Change the Formula

Posted: 20 Mar 2012 12:07 PM PDT

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." I'm going to pretend that he he was talking about Travellers' Tales' LEGO series, and not something far more important. I'm not one to be coy about my love for the LEGO games, so I jumped at the chance to check out the newest installment, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. For their second foray into the world of Caped Crusaders, TT is concentrating on a much larger scale of conflict. Instead of just handling heroes and villains from Batman's history, they're pulling in characters from across the entire DC Universe. Joker and Lex Luther have teamed up to cause all sorts of blocky chaos, and it's up to Batman, Superman and other members of the Justice League to stop them.

Though LEGO titles have never been known for their hardware-destroying visuals, this installment in the series is by far the best looking. Particularly gorgeous was the Arkham Asylum portion of the demo. The infamous prison was slowly sinking into the bay off of Gotham City, which made for some great moments of nature bursting through the walls. Having to slog through torrents of water while navigating the halls of the prison provided the most impressive visuals the series has ever seen. As for the action itself, character swapping is still going to play an important role in the game, but a new emphasis has been placed on costume changes that give your heroes newfound abilities. For instance, Batman can don an Electricity Suit that allows him to harness otherwise dangerous currents and use them to power machinery. We also spotted Robin's Acrobat Suit, which allowed the Boy Wonder to embrace his circus roots by using his staff to vault around the environment. It was nice to see these costumes add a bit of depth to both combat and puzzles.
