WildStar: Did F2P Conversion Work? Korean Investment Bank Weighs In Posted: 20 Jan 2016 01:08 AM PST The largest investment bank in Korea is predicting that NCSoft's stable of games will have had a fantastic year overall, but that Carbine Studios' WildStar did and will continue to struggle for survival even after a free-to-play conversion in late 2015. Daewoo Securities has published its estimate for the results of the forthcoming 2015 investor report to be revealed later in Q1 2016. |

General: How the Community Literally Keeps Dungeon Defenders Alive Posted: 19 Jan 2016 08:03 AM PST Doubtless, many of you around here probably remember Dungeon Defenders, the Indie hit from 2011 (seems so long ago, now). A mix of tower defense and co-op RPG, players fended off waves of enemies while defending the Eternia Crystals. The game sold so well across various platforms that developer Trendy Entertainment has been long at work on a sequel. Make sense, right? |

Nosgoth: New Map, Class & League Beta to Release Soon Posted: 19 Jan 2016 09:39 AM PST The Nosgoth site has been updated with a look ahead at the next month or two as to what players can expect in the way of new content. The Silenced Cathedral will be incoming soon and some new screens has been added to show off a bit of its look. In addition, a new, but still not revealed, human class will be announced in the next several weeks and the League Beta will continue after the end of the most recent season a few days ago. |

The site has been updated with a look at the first round of qualifying events, the Spring Global Championship. All of the dates and regional events are detailed including events to be held in South Korea, Australia/New Zealand, China, Europe, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia and Taiwan. |
General: Smedley & Patrick Rothfuss Team Up for New ARPG Posted: 18 Jan 2016 03:07 PM PST John Smedley is ready to reveal what he's been up to for the past several months after leaving Daybreak Game Company last summer. He has formed a new studio called Pixelmage Games that is already hard at work on Hero's Song, a 2D pixel art action RPG. Pixelmage is hoping to raise $800,000 to complete development on Hero's Song and grow the team from the thirteen that currently are working on the game. |

The first game from John Smedley's new team is launching on Kickstarter this morning. This new open world MMORPG can be played in multiple ways. You can actually go through the game single player, host your own server, and play with thousands of others in a sandbox game. John said he always wanted a game like this and now fans of old school RPGs and MMOs, with a wish for something new, are in for a treat. |
Minecraft: 'Edu' Edition - an Inventive Way to Engage Students Posted: 19 Jan 2016 07:34 AM PST Minecraft will be released in a new edition beginning this summer. Called MinecraftEdu, the special version of the game hopes to inspire creativity, collaboration and problem-solving in students around the world. Educators will be able to try out a free trial this summer and then enjoy the first year of MinecraftEdu at no cost. |
