General: Five Reasons Why Heroes of the Storm is the MOBA for Casuals Posted: 20 Sep 2015 02:38 AM PDT Some time ago, I wrote a piece about whether Heroes of the Storm could achieve the same casual success as Hearthstone, comparing Blizzard's two new entries to the MOBA and online TCG genres, respectively. It's difficult to determine just yet how financially profitable is HotS after its official release in June, but it anecdotally seems to have engendered a great amount of critical and community acclaim. |
Echo of Soul: ChangYou Announces Cessation of Chinese Service Posted: 21 Sep 2015 06:49 AM PDT ChangYou is reportedly closing down Echo of Soul in China according to a report from MMOCulture. No reason for the cessation of service was given, though it comes closely on the heels of the Korean version's shut down as well. Aeria Games, publisher of EoS in North America and Europe, issued a statement that indicates development continues and that no plan to close its version of the game imminent. |
Archlord 2: Time to Say Goodbye - Webzen Announces Closure Posted: 21 Sep 2015 04:48 AM PDT Webzen has announced that Archlord 2 will be closing on November 24, 2015 when servers will be deactivated. While no reason is given for the closure, it can be assumed that the game was not turning the profit Webzen wished even though during the course of the game's relatively short life, over 300,000 players took part in the game with over 5M hours of game play. |
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Drew Karpyshyn Returns to Bioware & SWTOR Posted: 20 Sep 2015 10:00 AM PDT Fans of Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will be happy to hear that Drew Karpyshyn has returned to the fold after finishing his trilogy of novels. According to his blog, Karpyshyn will be working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, a clear sign that Bioware is committed to storytelling with the Knights of the Fallen Empire. |
League of Angels: New Features Descend from the Heavens Posted: 19 Sep 2015 03:03 PM PDT The development team behind League of Angels has announced that several new features have landed in the game to give players even more content and mini-games to explore. Players will be able to take advantage of the new "totem unite" system that can trigger a second totem along with its stats at any point during battle. |
