General: Procedurally Generated Goodness Posted: 16 Jul 2015 04:01 PM PDT I have recently discovered that I really enjoy primitive-looking, voxel-based, sometimes-sidescroller-y survival games. It sounds a bit specific, so I mean games like Starbound, Minecraft, or Terraria. I love the way the graphics look simple (which means easy to run on older PCs) but feature realistic lighting or shading. I especially love the fact that these titles offer a wide variety of open-ended content and keep the barrier of entry low. |

Wizard101: Ultra-Summer in Wizard101: No burns, Just Bursting with Good Stuff! Posted: 16 Jul 2015 04:27 PM PDT Wizard101's Ultra Summer Update went live this week with a whole lot of something for every type of player. New challenges from old foes, pets taking a dip in the DNA pool, a new age of PvP, and more housing and gardening than you can shake a glow stick at (the new Ultra plants have a really cool glow effect). |
ArcheAge: Double Experience Weekend Begins Posted: 17 Jul 2015 09:17 AM PDT Trion Worlds has announced a special weekend event called "Bounty of Knowledge". From Friday, July 17th through Monday, July 20th, players will get double experience for all monster kills, crafting and gathering that already provides in-game experience. According to the post, it's a great time to hit level cap or begin a new toon. |

Fallout 4: Voice Over Work is HUGE -- Testament to a Well-Kept Secret Posted: 17 Jul 2015 09:11 AM PDT In a new interview at Britain's The Telegraph, Todd Howard reveals that over 13,000 lines of dialog have been recorded in the last couple of years. Not only is that indicative of the level of "secrecy" that the project embodied, but also the massive size of the game itself, particularly with regard to player choices. |
Lost Dimension: Lost Dimensions Vision and Judgement Systems Posted: 16 Jul 2015 03:25 PM PDT Lost Dimension is one of those rare games that encourages you to get to know your NPC compatriots, while at the same time pressuring you to think carefully about whom you decide to buddy up with. Atlus' upcoming scifi RPG puts party management at the forefront of its gameplay, and ties all of its systems back to the decisions you make about your compatriots. |
