Camelot Unchained: Ability Crafting Image Teased Posted: 27 Feb 2015 07:32 AM PST As part of last night's update, the Camelot Unchained team has posted a new image that shows the ability crafting system the team is incorporating into the game. It's largely unreadable, though some words can be made out such as recovery time, disruptive damage, preparation time, damage, stamina cost and a few other abilities. Check it out and let us know if you can get a handle on some of the blurrier abilities. |
General: The Daily Quest: Does Story Matter? Posted: 27 Feb 2015 06:07 AM PST MMOs are based on their older sibling, the RPG. As a result, all contain lore that explains the universe, the background, even the reasons why we as players are even present in the world. Development teams hire legion writers to fill out the story behind the games we play but, in the end, does it matter to most players? |
Crowfall: The 3 Most Exciting Reveals This Week Posted: 26 Feb 2015 10:40 AM PST |
Crowfall: Game of Thrones Artists & KickStarter Funds Posted: 27 Feb 2015 05:08 AM PST A pair of artists who have worked on various literary projects related to the Game of Thrones IP are also working with Artcraft to create some of the concept art for Crowfall. Marc Simonetti's art is featured prominently in the GoT-related book, "The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones". Mike S. Miller has worked on the "Hedge Knight" comic book series and he has created a terrific Crowfall image utilizing his own unique style. |

Overwatch: New Character Info Incoming? Posted: 25 Feb 2015 06:56 PM PST A rather oblique Twitter post has appeared on the Overwatch feed that shows a magazine cover with a shadowed figure on it. While nothing on the cover says anything about Overwatch, the appearance on its Twitter feed and the follow up post by a fan for people to scan the QR-code seems to indicate that a new character will be revealed soon. See what you think! |
General: Supernova - Primal Game Studio's MOBA/RTS Hybrid Posted: 26 Feb 2015 03:35 PM PST At a preview event in downtown San Francisco, Bandai Namco Games and Hungarian developer Primal Game Studio revealed their current collaboration--a sci-fi MOBA called Supernova. The game, currently in its alpha stage, contains some predictably rough edges, but from what I saw at the event, it looks to be a more strategic kind of MOBA. |

General: What Kind of MMO Videos Do you Watch? Posted: 26 Feb 2015 11:16 AM PST We're in a whole new world of game coverage, as video and streaming are quickly becoming the new normal for videogame coverage. Now fear not... we're not going to abandon the writing world anytime soon. But if you haven't noticed, we've really started to increase our video coverage. Our question? What kind of content do you want from our videos? |

Warhammer 40.000: Eternal Crusade: Special Edition Stream to Reveal First Faction Leader Posted: 26 Feb 2015 11:14 AM PST Behaviour Interactive will be hosting a very special Twitch live stream this Friday, February 27th from 2:00 pm Eastern / 11:00 Pacific that will be squarely focused on lore. The discussion will start with how Games Workshop and Graham McNeill work in tandem with Behaviour to ensure the most cohesive lore possible. |
Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Outfit Designer Won't Save Crafting Posted: 25 Feb 2015 11:40 AM PST In the recent Producer's Roadmap, Bruce Maclean dropped the news we'd known about for awhile, Star Wars: the Old Republic would have some kind of Outfit Designer. Coming in the spring with Game Update 3.2, it's supposed to be an 'awesome new feature'. Let's speculate as to how this new feature will work and how it will integrate with the existing crafting system. |

General: The Truth is MMOs are Evolving Posted: 25 Feb 2015 11:30 AM PST I think a change in acronyms is due to match the change. MMORPG has always been a mouthful and sort of sucked all of the immersive qualities out of the genre. MMORPG sounds like a scientific categorization. And, as this column hopefully shows, the semi- or pseudo-MMO market is alive and well within the blurry lines in between genres, so we need some new terms. |
Elite: Dangerous: Debug Camera to Unlock in March Posted: 26 Feb 2015 07:56 AM PST The Elite: Dangerous forum has been updated with a new developer post that lays out some of the upcoming features players can expect from the beta update v1.2. According to the post, the update should arrive in March. Of particular note, the update will feature a debug camera that will allow players to take epic screenshots of their ships from the outside, though the caveat is mentioned that it is not a game play camera. |
