ArcheAge: Getting Past the Grind Posted: 24 Jun 2014 08:03 AM PDT ArcheAge is most definitely a sandbox-flavored MMO. The seas and roads are alive with trade caravans transporting packs of local specialties. Guilds have claimed land, hastily constructed castles and declared war on one another. Most importantly, crafted gear reigns supreme. For some MMO fans, none of that matters. No amount of open-world interactions can prevent ArcheAge from becoming the target of "Korean grinder" criticism. |
General: TESO - The Post-E3 Rumor Mill Posted: 22 Jun 2014 05:38 PM PDT With the latest iteration of the US trade event having come and gone, it was natural to expect the bump in volume of rumors that has followed. For various reasons, it doesn't seem as pronounced as it once was. Nonetheless, it's still an annual rite. This time, The Elder Scrolls Online has been front and center. |

General: Nosgoth: Arena Combat in the World of Kain Posted: 22 Jun 2014 05:29 PM PDT I have some very fond memories of playing through Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Interactive's Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver in college, and have been wondering for quite a while about the status of the series. As it turns out, Psyonix and Square Enix have been toiling away at a new title, Nosgoth, based on the titular dark fantasy setting, but it's a bit different from what you might be expecting from a Legacy of Kain game. |

Legends of Persia: A Mediocre Experience All Around Posted: 22 Jun 2014 05:08 PM PDT The surge in popularity of indie games, particularly crowd-funded ones, has spear-headed this movement, and Legends of Persia is the latest project born from a successful (albeit modest) Kickstarter campaign. Unfortunately, its origin story and subsequent gameplay mechanics are one and the same: boring and predictable. |
