Ground Forces Expansion Launches

Gaijin Entertainment has announced that the War Thunder Ground Forces expansion is now live in open beta. Players can now participate in both air and ground battles via aircraft and armored terrain vehicles. Both Soviet and German vehicles are currently available in Ground Forces with other nations to join the fray soon.

Both F2P & Subscription to Be Added

The Origins of Malu site has been updated with the news that both subscriptions and free to play options will be offered to players. The subscription amount has yet to be determined but, in an interesting twist, any F2P player purchasing something from the item mall will also be given a limited amount of subscription time as a bonus.

World War Machine Begins Indiegogo Campaign

Square Enix and Tuque Games have started an Indiegogo campaign to raise development funds for the "first ever post-human action RPG" called World War Machine. World War Machine was one of three titles shown to the Square Enix community to assess interest. It scored 90% positive ratings from voters. The team hopes to raise $50,000 over forty days in order to finish the development process.

Some Notes on Crowdfunding

Last week in this space I talked about a project that failed to get funded on KickStarter and has since had a weird journey. In the comments on that article and the comments of a news post we had on MMORPG.com yesterday about Origins of Malu one thing became painfully clear, there are still a lot of questions and misinformation about crowdfunding and how some of these sites work. Hopefully I can help answer some of those questions for you this week and maybe get you thinking about some new ones.
