Bigpoint and Fox Consumer Products Get Cool with Worldwide Open Beta Launch of Ice Age Online

Free-to-Play Browser Game Captures Essence of Hit Film Franchise; Release Goes Live in 10 Languages

San Francisco – July 10, 2012 – Bigpoint – a global leader in online games – in collaboration with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products today announced the international open beta launch of Ice Age Online. Based on the hit motion picture franchise, Ice Age Online brings together the popular film characters and environments in a free-to-play, browser-based adventure game with a host of cool social features. The title offers fans a new way to enjoy the beloved franchise alongside the global release of Ice Age: Continental Drift, in theaters in 3D July 2012.

"We're excited to have fans of Ice Age jump into the open beta," said Julia Salomon, Producer, Bigpoint. "Our team is dedicated to delivering an authentic online gaming experience that is true to the cinematic adventures of Sid, Manny Diego, and Scrat – and we're confident that fans will be entertained by Ice Age Online."

In Ice Age Online, players take on the role of a sloth who discovers the perfect home for its herd, but suddenly becomes separated by a volcanic eruption. To survive, players must rescue the lost members and build camps for their prehistoric animal friends through a combination of mission and jump-n-run gameplay. Throughout multiple game modes and the World Map, a variety of locations can be explored – the Ice Floes, Grassy Plains, Jungle, and Glacier – based on familiar settings within the blockbuster movie franchise.

The platform game, built atop the Unity 3D platform, will also feature a friends list, activity graph, leaderboards, and the opportunity for friends and families to visit each other's camps and leave gifts behind.  As players learn to utilize special skills and master the collection of precious acorns and materials needed to construct camps, they will unlock new achievements and bonuses – including one level where players are able to take control of Diego, the lightning-fast saber tooth tiger, and race along a challenging obstacle course.

"Video games and film have an organic connection, and the online game space offers the opportunity for fans around the world to be immersed in the world of Ice Age in an all new way," said Jeffrey Godsick, President of Fox Consumer Products. "Bigpoint, a global leader in online game development, was a natural partner choice for launching this franchise phenomenon on an online gaming platform."

Ice Age Online is now available in 10 languages worldwide with more languages to be added in the weeks to follow. Players can access the game for free, and play directly in their web browser.

Only just now broken free from imprisonment in magical ice, Phantom has decided to fight against the Black Mage and defend the successor to Empress Aria. Nexon America Introduces New Phantom Character in Summer Update

MapleStory's continued summer updates has just introduced Phantom, a Thief Hero character, in the second phase of the Renegades update released yesterday. Players interested in a powerful and magical character can now play as Phantom and help this cursed soul protect his late Empress Aria's successor. MapleStory will also be holding a Phantom Welcome Event and opening a new world to celebrate the Renegades update.

To learn more about Phantom and the summer events, visit: http://maplestory.nexon.net/renegades.

Hundreds of years ago, Phantom was a master thief who gained fame and fabulous wealth by stealing only the most precious treasures from the rich. He left signature items at each crime scene, but because his true identity was never revealed, he was dubbed "Phantom" by the people. Phantom decided to join the fight against the Black Mage when his beloved Empress Aria was murdered by an envoy of the mage. Falling under a curse, Phantom was frozen in magical ice for hundreds of years and has only now broken free, filled with vengeance and the desire to defeat the Black Mage.

With a charming personality and money to spare, Phantom uses his cane and magical cards for his attacks and skills when pulling a fast one on unsuspecting players. This tricky Thief Hero can mimic certain skills of Explorer class characters and use them to his advantage.

This highly mobile, fast attacking and critically damaging Phantom character is now available for players to create in MapleStory. Players who create Phantom, or any other character, in the new Renegades world will be able to access a special quest from Cassandra.

Tynon Introduces Naga Race

Posted: 10 Jul 2012 03:12 PM PDT

uCool, makers of Tynon, have revealed another new race and recruitable characters for the upcoming game.

The Staa’shesk are a serpent-like species that make their capital in Thlacyso. They lack complicated emotions and act on basic instincts, causing them to see other races and inferior; however, they can also be cunning and intelligent.

Players will be able to recruit Staa’shesk, including Silekeha, an exiled Naga, and Chathoske the Lightning Witch, who hides in the corner of the underground sea, hungering for more magical power.

Race Profile: The Staa'shesk

In Tynon, the serpent-like Naga are known as the "Staa'shesk", fearsome creatures that dwell within the capital city of Thlacyso. On your journey through Tynon, you will visit the dark, seaside caverns of Verdant City and face these snake-like foes…

The Staa’shesk are tall, reptilian creatures who lack complicated emotions and possess the most basic instincts: anger, fear, hunger, and greed, which leads them to view other races as inferior. Most of their actions are driven simply by their desires for food, shelter, sleep and achieving power. Despite these seemingly basic traits, members of the Staa'shesk can be extremely intelligent and cunning, making these creatures extremely deadly.

Throughout their journey, heroes will encounter Staa'shesk who will join their quest to retake the realm of Tynon. The first such warrior is Silekeha, whose ambitions for the Cerulean Crown were halted by a conspiracy led by the warrior Yihosab. Rather than slay Silekeha, Yihosab instead chose to strip Silekeha of his weapons and titles, banishing him to live in exile. Never one to fade quietly, Silekeha continues to hone his deadly magic while looking for an opportunity to strike back.

While many Staa'shesk yearn to conquer, one such warrior, Chathoske the "Lightning Witch" is not ruled by her ambition to dominate but rather her hunger for even greater magical power. This makes her extremely valuable to Staa'shesk rulers, although they're often careful not to upset her violent and unstable temper. She shuts herself away in a tower on the edge of the underground sea, where it is said even the tides fear to approach.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD feels like classic Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 were the bomb. Hard to believe the former only came out in 1999. Unfortunately, the series quickly spiraled away from being the bomb and, in more recent years, toward being a laughing stock that Activision has been so sure people are going to eventually buy en masse after realizing the error of their ways.
