Shroud of the Avatar: Major Changes to Backer Tiers Posted: 04 Jun 2014 05:16 PM PDT One of the most interesting things about watching the development of Shroud of the Avatar has been observing the interactions between developers and backers. I have most definitely seen some awesome relationships created between players and developers. It's always sort of seemed to me that guys like Matt Higby from SOE's PlanetSide franchise were the model other developers and studios should look to for guidance on player-interaction, but I think I need to change that opinion, now. |

I'm still tinkering in the Elder Scrolls Online and playing WildStar but that's not what this week's column is about. Over the past few months I've had a couple of columns focusing on crowdfunding and I'd like to check in some of the games that are currently in development or actively seeking funding. |
Shards Online: Weekend Event Opens Servers to All Posted: 05 Jun 2014 05:44 AM PDT The Shards Online team will be on hand in the MMORPG.com Live Stream channel to show off the game in an alpha preview event that is scheduled to begin in about an hour and run throughout the weekend. The game servers will be open to the first 400 or so players logging in with the action being shown as it happens via the live stream. |

SMITE: New Partnership to Bring Game to Latin America & Brazil Posted: 05 Jun 2014 06:08 AM PDT Hi-Rez Studios has announced a new partnership with Level Up to bring SMITE to Latin America and Brazil. Players currently gaming on North American or European servers will be able to transfer characters for free when the fully localized versions go into service later this year. In addition, competitive teams from Brazil and Latin America will join the SMITE finals in 2015. |
Dark Souls II: Lost Crowns Trilogy DLC Announced Posted: 05 Jun 2014 10:03 AM PDT Namco Bandai has posted a brand new video to introduce Dark Souls II players to a forthcoming trilogy of content headed their way. Called "The Lost Crowns", the DLC will be delivered in three parts for all platforms. The first part, The Crown of the Sunken King", will arrive in July followed by The Crown of the Old Iron King in August and The Crown of the Ivory King in September. To herald the new DLC, a fantastic teaser trailer was released. Check it out! |

EVE Online: CCP Confirms Next Round of Layoffs Posted: 05 Jun 2014 08:41 AM PDT CCP Games has announced that forty-nine jobs have been lost in a restructuring move. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the layoffs are part of CCP's continuing focus on the EVE Universe and the jobs lost came from the publishing areas of the company and will not affect any of the games currently in development. |
