Winning Putt: Not Exactly Par for the Course

Bandai Namco and Webzen are out to capture an often overlooked segment of the gaming community, namely sports fans of the more cerebral type who enjoy a round of golf - only this time, of the virtual sort. Winning Putt is hardly the only golf game on the market, but it is a title that not only appeals to sports fans, but it also brings some interesting mechanics to the genre in its MMO and RPG features, though at a cost, and a high one too.

Overwatch: eLeague & FaceIt to Produce Tournament to be Held This Month

eLeague and FaceIt are bringing the world the largest prize pool in an Overwatch competitive tournament. European and North American Regional Finals will be streamed via Twitch.tv beginning July 23rd with the Grand Finals televised on Turner Broadcasting Station (TBS). Players will be competing for $300,000 in prizes during the competition.

This is a hard one. This week I'm going to talk about the pink and purple polka dotted elephant in the room that is the Chronicles of Elyria (COE) storefront. If you read the latest COE update from Soulbound Studios owner/leader Jeromy Walsh then you might be thinking "I thought the Elephant in the room was the website". I think the elephant is the storefront and I'll explain why but before I get into that I want to explain something else.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward: Yo-kai Watch Event to Kick Off on July 26th

The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with the news that the cross-promotional event, Yo-kai Watch: Gather One, Gather All, will be kicking off on Tuesday, July 26th and will run through Monday, October 3rd. The quest line begins at player level 15+ and is predicated on completion of any one of the main scenario quests. Once finished with the quest, players will be given a Yo-kai Watch and Medallion used to gather Yo-kai Medals.

Sea of Thieves: Comic Con Panel Reveals Game's Homage to Rare Classics

The Sea of Thieves team was on hand at yesterday's San Diego Comic Con to talk about the game and how it will provide fans of some of Rare's classic titles with fun things to look out for during their time playing. Ryan Stevenson said that this would be accomplished through ship figureheads that can be equipped on players' vessels that may include Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark and one that references Banjo Kazooie.

Battleborn: New Character to Be Released on July 28th

2K has several new blog posts on the Battleborn site to reveal new multiplayer mode maps, broadcaster tools and a new hero coming into the rotation on July 28th. Pendles is the second of five free characters for Season Pass owners coming to the game. Pendles will be widely available on August 4th for 47,500 in-game credits.

World of Warcraft: First Harbingers Video Profiles the Formidable Gul'Dan

The first in a series of videos to profile some of the most notable World of Warcraft legends has arrived. The first of the Harbingers movies reveals the backstory of Gul'Dan, one of the most notorious of the game's villains. Cast out from his clan, rejected by the elements, Gul'Dan wrested power from the world. It is a beautifully made video that lore hounds will love and fans of WoW will appreciate.

TERA: New Event, 'TERA Mongo', Ongoing Through July 31st

TERA players are invited to head into the game to take part in a new event called TERA Mongo. The idea is for players to hunt down and kill Mongos, monsters that can appear in strange places. Finding and killing these creatures can yield enchanting materials and cosmetic items. Uncommon and rare Mongos can also drop a mount.

Duelyst: Latest Update Spruces Up the Game with Cosmetic Items & More

Duelyst has been updated with a large patch that brings some neat new cosmetic items into the game including new emotes, profile icons, and card backs. Every cosmetic in this update can be purchased for real world cash or crafted with Spirit. Anyone who registered prior to this particular update will get "Base General Emotes" as thanks for their participation.

With the Livin Story picking back up next week this seemed like a good point to take a look at some of the incredible creations out there. The Final Fantasy XIV site has been updated with a brief note to let players know of their most recent wave of bans implemented against players advertising real money transactions in-game and / or other 'illicit activities'. Over 6,500 accounts were given permanent vacations from FFXIV.
