Posted: 09 Feb 2014 06:49 PM PST

Type 1 Bravo case looks to be a formidable options for PC gamers

XFX has introduced its stab at a PC gaming enclosure, naming it the Type 1 Bravo, and it's more than just a pretty face. The mid-tower type enclosure has room for eight 2.5" or 3.5 drives, as well as three 5.25" optical drives and four dual-slot graphics cards. It'll also pack a five-year warranty from XFX and retail for $129.99.

The case comes pre-installed with 140 mm fans as exhaust, as well as a 200 mm fan mounted as standard kit. A side-panel window allows you to see eight expansion slots for the dual-slot graphics cards, and top exhaust can support up to a single 200 mm fan or one between 90  and 140 mm.

You've got two USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports in the front of the case as well as HD audio jacks, and the chassis measures 518 x 232 x 222 x 562 mm, weighing 10.5 kg. It looks to be a solid case for anyone looking to build a gaming PC, so if you're in the market to get one this might be a good option for future tinkerers with so many games on the horizon.

Details on MSI's version of new J1800-based motherboards

While several manufacturers have already put forth announcements about new J1800-based motherboards, MSI is now throwing its hat into the ring with the J1800I, a Mini-ITX board packing an Intel Celeron J1800 CPU.

MSI's version of the J1800 motherboard has two DDR3 SODIMM slots to accommodate up to 8 GB of memory, as well as one PCIe slot, two SATA2 ports, and USB 2.0 headers. The Celeron J1800 CPU is also a dual-core Bay Trail processor with a base frequency of 2.41 GHZ and 1 MB of L2 cache.

As far as rear I/O connectivity, there's a USB 3.0 port, a DVI port, an HDMI port, and two USB 2.0 ports as well as HD audio jacks and gigabit ethernet.

This news doesn't come coupled with pricing information or any kind of concrete details beyond specs, but rumors are swirling that the boards may retail around $60 when they finally release.

One Shots: A nuclear explosion of friendship

FFXIV
I'm always so very proud of you readers when you take me up on one of my weekly screenshot challenges, like a proud papa who sees his child take those first few steps to the computer, sit down, and engage in a 40-man raid. So big props today to reader Rhime, who captured an impressive-looking spell effect from Final Fantasy XIV.

"My in-game character on the left center is Kavu," Rhime wrote. "Our free company had a photo night, and I managed to capture a lot of shots of our mucking about on the beach near Costa del Sol. This shot depicts a friend and me posing in combat stance with a couple spells running (fire on the ground and the shiny blue star between us). I hope you like it!"

I do indeed! We've got a great collection of player-submitted game photos for you to see today, so let's not waste any more time hanging out in this paragraph.

The Daily Grind: Do you appreciate environmental hazards?

    GW2
Whenever I find lava in an MMO zone, my first instinct -- as in real life -- is to jump right into it and see if it will hurt me. If it does, then I die horribly while giving a salute to the developers for caring enough to make such a hazard more than a cosmetic visual.

That's not to say that I always appreciate how virtual nature might trip me up, slow me down, obscure my vision, or outright kill me. But even as I grouse about it in chat, I realize that for me it's an essential part of feeling as if the world is believable and not merely a stage set.

From lightning to blizzards to lava flows to poisonous swamps, do you appreciate environmental hazards? Are they important even if you don't like them?

Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!

Make My MMO: Crowdfunding January 26 - February 8, 2014

The crowdfunding train just keeps rolling right along, with passengers always coming and going. New passengers hop aboard while others hop off at their desired destination. Sadly, some have to disembark early -- such is the case with Universe Rush and Antilia. Although the Kickstarter campaign fell far short of its goal, Antilia does plan to continue development on its own.

On the brighter side of things, some passengers reached their stop; Tales From The Strange Universe reached its goal, and both it and Novus AEterno (which brought in over 3.5 times its initial goal) will now take their places in the funded category. The Repopulation, earning over 175K during this latest Kickstarter run, disembarks at Betawatch station thanks to its ongoing alpha testing. Catch up on all the news for all these titles as they journey through crowdfunding here in Make My MMO.

Norrathian Notebook: EQN Landmark alpha 101

You know you've got it bad when you don't want to leave a game long enough to write about it! But that's exactly how this last week has been for me and EverQuest Next Landmark. Don't get me wrong; it's an awesome change to be so eager to play that you willingly stare at a login queue (getting to listen to Jeremy Soule's music while you do is definitely a bonus!) and even spend hours gathering materials, knowing that it will all be wiped. It's just been a long while since that has happened to me. Luckily, the alpha has had downtimes, allowing me some sleep and a chance to whip this first impressions piece and quick-start guide up for you.

Even with many of the core features from the game still missing, this alpha shows you straight off that EQN Landmark truly is a whole different game. The term innovative is not just a catchphrase here; it's a summary. As such, jumping in can leave eager players a bit overwhelmed or frustrated. So this here's a quick introduction course with hints and tips to get you started.

The Mog Log: Final Fantasy XIV's story post-2.1

          Posted: 08 Feb 2014 12:00 PM PST

Why does this feel more living to me than a year of Guild Wars 2?
Something kind of surprising happened in Final Fantasy XIV's first major patch: The story kept chugging along quite coherently. And not just through the main story quests, either. Yes, the primary focus was obviously there, but there were a lot of things taking place, wheels within wheels, building on the narratives established in 1.0 and seriously working toward the next major set of events rather than simply being a set of padding.

I should warn readers, once again, that there will be spoilers for the game's story below. That includes both the patch story material and the main story from the core game. If you haven't finished the main story and unlocked the Crystal Tower yet, you may want to stay away. Or you can just read on ahead and be spoiled. I'm not going to tell you how you should enjoy your game stories. You should also finish the Hildibrand storyline, although I'm not spoiling that; it's just amusing.

              Chief Sarcan

There has been a lot of coverage of Wildstar lately. Yet the Social community (Role Play), which is a big of the Wildstar design has had very little press. So I thought I would give you a run down to how the Fashion conscious will make their mark on Nexus. Wildstar has an interesting way that you apply costumes and dyes, so let's go over the basics.

Elder Scrolls Online: Adventuring in Stros M’kai

              Adventuring in Stros M

While I'll be pledging my allegiance to the Queen and the Aldmeri Dominion at launch, I recently had an opportunity to find out how the other side lives in tackling the starting area of the Daggerfall Covenant: Stros M'kai. Keep in mind, there be spoilers ahead, so turn back now if you'd like to keep the Daggerfall starting experience fresh.

Elder Scrolls Online: Free to Choose Your Own Path

Free to Choose Your Own Path

I have to admit a dirty little secret: I have never played even a minute of Skyrim. I've watched my bestie play, but never partaken of the wildly popular title myself. So how on Earth did Elder Scrolls Online end up on my personal "most anticipated games of 2014" list. The long and short of it is that Zenimax grabbed my attention by making a game that I believe is largely missing in the often too cartoony genre these days: In short, a more "realistic" looking MMO.

Elder Scrolls Online: Combat is Deeper than Expected

              Combat is Deeper than Expected

While my usual MO is to get stabby as a stealthy assassin type in MMOs and RPGs, during my run in the recent press beta for The Elder Scrolls Online, I made a Nord Sorcerer this time around to try something different and bring some freshness to the experience. I prefer third-person MMO combat to first person, so I found myself fighting while in third a lot, but I did do some switching around. Your mileage is going to vary, but I'm happy the option exists.

Inside the Ebonheart Pact Starter Area

When it comes to The Elder Scrolls Online, the IP will bring its own set of expectations from both fans that have been with the series since the beginning and those millions that have come to TES via Skyrim. It is to these last players that the starting area for the Ebonheart Pact will offer the most familiarity. Those aligned with the Ebonheart Pact will find themselves on Bleakrock Island, right off the coast of Skyrim.
